I suggest your read Jefferson's Bible, Franklin's autobiography, Washington's personal papers, Paine's pamphlets and pretty much anything else any of them wrote. You'll find that very few of them were Christian in any way that you would consider to be a "True Christian" that you appear to believe they were. Most had quite harsh words for your religion.

I hate to break it to you but the Founding Fathers were the progressives of their day.

Incorrect and irrelevant. Some founding fathers were deists, some where Christian (of various sects), and some were likely skeptical.

But it makes no difference. Stop deifying the founding fathers as if they were something special/supernatural. They were men (and only men) with flaws (slave-ownership, granted voting rights to only white male land-owners).

They did realize that religion is a personal matter and should not be intertwined with governing.

The government shouldn't tell you if, whom, or how to worship and religion shouldn't tell you how to govern.

Religion (or lack of) is a personal thing, meaning something different to each individual. How would you like it if the Government didn't like "how" you were worshipping Jebus? Would you like them to enforce how you do it? Think it through.

Nobody who claims the US's Founding Fathers were "guided by Christian principles" ever provides examples. They go to great lengths to try to show that the Founding Fathers were Christians, but that's not the same thing as claiming they were guided by Christian principles in the design of the US government. Hitler was a Christian. Does that mean Nazi Germany was founded on "Christian principles"? Obviously not.

So what are these "Christian principles" the US is alleged to be founded on? Did Jesus talk about democracy or the republican form of government? Did he call for an independent judiciary or separation of powers between the senate and the emperor? No - Rome already had those to a certain extent. Did he advocate a constitution to guarantee rights and define powers? No. Rome already had those to a certain extent, too. Paul invoked his rights as a Roman citizen when he was accused of treason. Did Jesus tell Pilate the government had no business enforcing Judaic law? What "principles" did Jesus or the Bible advocate that the Romans, Greeks and Chinese hadn't already thought of? Where was democracy under Christian rule in the Middle Ages? Does the US have an Inquisition? Do we have summoners prowling the countryside enforcing ecclesiastic law? Do we try people for blasphemy? Would Galileo be put under house arrest in modern America for disagreeing with the church? Where are these "Christian principles" the US is founded on?

If it's truth, then there should be evidence to back it up.

Besides, which uniquely Christian principles, specifically, guided the founding fathers? There's nothing in the Bible about democracy, separation of powers, equality under the law, bicameral legislature, free enterprise, trial by jury, etc.

The 10 commandments; they contradict many of the principles put forth in the Constitution. "No taking the Lord's name in vain" contradicts the freedom of speech. "No graven images" contradicts the freedom of the press. "No gods before me" and “Keep the Sabbath holy” are both contrary to the freedom of religion. The list goes on.

Then, of course, there's the Treaty of Tripoli.

And of course, the truth will set you free from the progressives.

You know, the founding fathers were considered to be pretty progressive for their time.

So was Jesus.

Get your children the heck out of the public scrools.

Why the hell are you so interested in changing the publich school curriculum if you don't want your kids taught there anyway?

Look at the Articles of Confederation. It includes an invocation to god. The writers of that document clearly felt that including such an invocation was important. Within 15 years, the Articles of Confederation were defunct.

Now look at The Constitution. It includes no references to god, Christ, or Christianity. It does no good to suggest that the founding fathers took it as read that future generations would view the USA as a Christian nation. Otherwise, why did the Articles include such an invocation? Clearly, the USA under the Constitution was founded as a secular nation.

That is the truth SDborn56. Learning it helped set me set free from the tyranny of superstition. It seems that you should have paid more attention in "scrool."
