Japan is very different from other non-white countries. Its the only country the genuinely contributes to western culture. When people see godzilla they think it was invented by Americans, but it was the Japanese that came up with it. Same with play station, Pokemon, Sony, Anime and Toyota. They have a culture of 'kawaii' which means 'cute', which is when everything has to look innocent and sweet. Some people say its because of the nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which sort of made them feel weak and hopeless. You can see this in Lolita and Bishojo genres in anime. And at the same time, japan is the 4th richest country in the world and the Japanese ethnic group has 127 million people in it. Japan started embracing modernization in the 18th century, much earlier than any other country in the non-western world.
