The first step is to convince legislators that "hate crimes" legislation is needed to deter "Christ bashing" as if were a special type of assault. Thereby equating criticism of Christianity with persecution.
The next step is to then claim that for non-Christians to speak against Christianity-based intolerance is "hate speech" and that that is a crime under "hate crimes" legislation. So, that then deists, agnostics and other non-Christians can be prosecuted under the "hate crimes" laws in order to silence them.
We know what the ultimate goal of the Christian agenda is.

For added effect, why not try adding in claims of racism? Because if a population of people from a certain religion overlaps with a population from a certain ethnic group, then they're one and the same, because if you criticise Islam, you hate Arabs! And if you dislike Christianity, you want to feed every white heterosexual American to the lions!
