an adolescent girl would have made a better choice of partner simply because she would have had more breeding years ahead of her. Sometimes, it would go horribly wrong and she'd end up dying in child birth or something but, on average, a man that committed himself to an adolescent bride would have ended up leaving behind more offspring than a man who committed himself to an older female.
