[In the group "Against Gay Marriage? Then Don't Get One and Shut the Fuck Up"]

Why not make a group that says "If you're against
murdering, then don't do it and shut the fuck up!" or how about "If you're against rape, then don't do it and shut the fuck up!" I could go on and on...but immorality is immorality...a sin is a sin...a democrat is a democrat...and to clarify for Mr. Bradley, "the bible" hates all of their actions, not the actual people. To sit by and not voice opposition to what is wrong, is to be just as guilty as to cause the wrongdoing to happen in the first place. Passive acceptance (aka ignorance) is what has got our nation so messed up in the first place...But even though the "evolutionally retarded" commen was politically incorrect, it was still funny...and true...think about it...

"The Bible" doesn't actually hate gay people or their actions. A few verses here and there, not all of which apply to loving, consensual sex anyway, are condemnatory; and that's it. Actually that's not quite it; David and Jonathan???

1 Samuel 20.30. “Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan. He said to him, “You son of a perverse, rebellious woman! Do I not know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your own shame, and to the shame of your mother’s nakedness?’” The reference to parental nakedness indicates a sexual relationship: Saul is angry that Jonathan and David have become lovers. Our sympathies, however, are clearly meant to be with David.

Most of the Bible isn't about gay sex. Jesus never mentions it. Tell you what gets up his nose though: religious hypocrisy. Plenty about that. Wonder why we don't hear much on the subject from our fundie friends?

Skylar, this is a very poor line of reasoning. Marriage is in no way similar to the acts of murder or rape.

So you're saying that it's immoral and a sin to be a Democrat? Where in your Bible is this said?

The Bible is a BOOK, which was written by ordinary people. An inanimate object is incapable of having emotions, such as hatred. Also, why did you put the name of your Bible in quotes, and fail to capitalize it? I'm an atheist and even I capitalize the book's name.

Why is it wrong, Skylar? Because someone told you that an old book said that it was? Gay marriage is never condemned in your Bible. Homosexuality is seldom mentioned in the New Testament. If you're going to keep citing the Bible as your source of morality, you really should READ it first, and familiarize yourself with what it actually says.

Wow, just googled my name and came across this...doubt anyone still looks at this post, but you people are all idiots, not because of your opinions, but because you don't know how to come up with intellectual and relevant rebuttals...

My argument was purely from a biblical perspective, I never talked about the consequence of any particular action in regards to hurting people or victims of the actions, which is what most of you somehow got from my comment (but if you are curious, both of the "consenting adults" (ya'll like to use that phrase) are the victims). Notice I said "a sin is a sin," there is your theme for the comment, you didn't even have to come up with that yourself, I gave it to you.

If you are not a Christian, then you won't agree with my opinion, and I can't change that, just the same as you can't change my opinion of the act being immoral (and disgusting).

For the comments that tried to pick apart quotes from my comment, and make assumptions as to my homophobia, or lack of tolerance, or obsession with this topic, or lack of personal sexual satisfaction...you are simply wrong.

And finally, I put quotes around "the bible" because that was the verbiage another person used when posting on this topic, but I wouldn't expect any of you to actually inform yourselves on the details of a conversation before voicing an opinion on it...
