Getting rid of the Bible, or having it labeled as "hate speech," is a predicable goal of the homosexual movement.

I've seen many fundies at various stages of an inexorable slide into total, hysterical divorce from reality as a result of their insane, contradictory dogmas, but, based on recent FSTDT quotes, Schlafly's deterioration is perhaps the most rapid. I reckon he'll be completely gone in only a year or so.
The Bible is not important enough in today's socieity, to render such interest. It's an old collection of myths and fairytales, written by people who have very little in common with the people of today.
The only thing the "homosexual movement" wants is that the homosexuals are left alone to live their lives with the same rights and respect as any other person.
I actually applauded this morning when I heared that Mexico City has voted to allow homosexuals to marry. Which is sad, really, it ought to be a mundane certainty, not something to rejoice about.
@Paschal Wagner: Yeah, don't you know that the moneylenders in the temple weren't kicked out of there for usury, but because Jesus caught them in the middle of a huge gay orgy and had to save face in front of his followers?
I don't want to get rid of the bible....
just the hateful, divisive, and flatly incorrect parts.
and all those pesky contradictions
Your book is worthless tripe, utterly irrelevant in the modern world. Anyone who preaches the hate in Leviticus, say, should face legal sanctions. Civilisation demands it.
And don't forget "the disciple whom Jesus loved"; perhaps your boy played for the other team?

And yet the only people who have ever suggested anything to that effect are all part of the conservative/fundie anti-gay movement. The very idea that such an action is part of the gay rights platform, much less it's one true goal, is not only ridiculous it's also a willful lie on your part meant only to defame and demonize.
The irony, Andy, is that if you remove all the supposedly "liberal" parts of scripture from the Bible, all you're left with is hate speech.
Andy, I think you've mixed a few things up. I'm straight and I'm the one trying to get the Bible labelled as hate speech. While I generally think book burnings are a bad thing, I'm considering making an exception for the Bible.
Christians have already gotten rid of the Bible, except those parts that they can cite against the unholy trinity of abortion, homosexuality, and modern science. While only a minority of Christians (at least in America) can name the four Gospels or say who, according to the Bible, gave the Sermon on the Mount, they all seem to have a certain verse from Leviticus memorized.
And it's predictable that the moment we have the nerve to not be content with the scraps you guys pass to us, few and far between they are, that we're condemned as trying to oppress YOU. The martyr complex is strong with you lot.

I'll be damned. You're right. Here it is, right here in black and white, in my copy of the Homosexual Agenda. It's in part four, sub-part nine, section twenty, paragraph four, sub-paragraph seven, amendment two--right between "How to Indoctrinate Children into the Homosexual Lifestyle" and "Destroying the Foundation of Christian America: Attack on Marriage."
Good thing you pointed it out to me or I would have never found it.

The remainder would be a pamphlet.

I think Leviticus defines the Bible as Hate Speech, and as such, it should be eliminated.
I'm straight.
Proved wrong much, Andy Schafafly?
I would label the Bible "hate speech" if it actually said things like "God hates fags," which it doesn't. It's you assholes who are saying that crap.
Also, it seems like conservatives often misinterpret disapproval of something as attempts to censor it. Probably 99% of gay people don't want to make hate speech illegal, we just don't like it. I personally dislike the Bible, but I have no desire to "get rid of" it. Why can't people understand the difference between "I find this offensive" and "OMG MUST BE BANNED!!"? Maybe it's because fundies want to censor everything that offends them and they project that desire on to everyone else.
(Btw, censoring the Bible is essentially what the "Conservative Bible Project" is doing anyway, by getting rid of the supposed "liberal bias" that offends them. But of course censorship is okay when fundies do it.)
Not only the LGBT movement, but all other rational freethinkers as well, see Andy's proposal as an ideal situation.
Jefferson considered the bible "a dunghill" with rare "diamonds" of legitimate truth hidden within.
(@ Philbert , a pamphlet indeed.)
Andy is coveting the central position of a personality cult, methinks.
MK said: "The irony, Andy, is that if you remove all the supposedly 'liberal' parts of scripture from the Bible, all you're left with is hate speech."
Probably more like all you're left with is Mein Kampf, only with worse writing and more hate and violence.
Then I guess supporting the homosexual movement is the right thing to do.
Seriously, Andy, "getting rid of the bible?" And exactly how would anyone go about such a monumental task?
I don't think they even need to "get rid" of it anymore, considering how we have probably won the gay marriage debate generationally: young people see gay marriage as a civil right, not a religious issue. As well, many young Christians today want to focus on things that Jesus actually talked about , like poverty. Actually knowing people that are gay, and knowing that it is biological in nature and not "willful sin," they just shake their heads at the ignorance and fear exhibited by their elders.
And many educated people in the United States see the Bible as something that contains lots of archiac rules, so why not "break" one more and allow gay marriage?
@Philbert McAdamia
"The remainder would be a pamphlet."
True, but it would bt down to 10% or less of the batshit crazy thats in it now. And it starts gettign really hard to keep gettign good sermons out of a pamlphlet.
Has anyone noticed the complete lack of any fundies complaining about this rewritting or heavily editing the "true, perfect absolute word of God"? Whats with that?
Perhaps proof that they really don't care about it unless they can use it? Would explain why they only quote disjointed verses and seldom chapters or runs of verses

"you don't have to destroy it. you just have to move it to 'fairytales' in the library."
