This is the homoerotic movement’s sick approach. Football fans are very likely NOT to care about the sexuality of players so long as the STFU about it and get the job done on the field.
This crap about “coming out” — there’s not one positive aspect to it. All it will serve to do is divide people. But of course the left is all about dividing anc conquering, so THEY see it as a win.

Dude, it's just a game. The players are NOT something to be idolized, and make abysmal role models anyway, considering that a lot of them have problems understanding that no means no, but noooo. The only thing you're worried about is if one of them is possibly gay. Glad to see you have your priorities straight.
"Football fans are very likely NOT to care ..."
OR
"All it will serve to do is divide people."
Which is it? Stupid fundies can't even be consistent between Sentence #2 and Sentence #4.
How dare the homoerotic movement attack football? It's a fine, manly pursuit where a guy reaches down between the legs of a guy who's bent over with his ass in the air, grabs a phallus-shaped ball, and ends with a bunch of sweaty, muscular guys piled on top of each other. Then there's the congratulatory slap on each other's asses not to mention the group shower after the game.
Coming out forces the people close to a gay person to decide if they are okay with that person living by their own values in their personal pursuit of happiness. Nobody is infringing on your rights simply by being gay. So yes, coming out divides people. It divides them into those who are for equality, and those who are against it.
The truth often hurts, or, at the very least, some people find truth to be quite disturbing.
Most people are probably extremely thankful that they, being human, are vastly distant from your individual mindset. You, on the other hand, are probably unhappy that most people appear not to think exactly like you.
"Football fans are very likely NOT to care about the sexuality of players "
"All it will serve to do is divide people. "
Which is it, dumbfuck? Logic isn't like bisexuality; you can't have it both ways.
This is the Christian movement's sick approach. Football fans are very likely NOT to care about the religion of players so long as the (sic) STFU about it and get the job done on the field.
This crap about "praying" -- there's not one positive aspect to it. All it will serve to do is divide people. But of course the right is all about dividing anc (sic) conquering, so THEY see it as a win.
This crap about “coming out” (as a Christian) there’s not one positive aspect to it. All it will serve to do is divide people. But of course the Christians all about dividing and conquering, so THEY see it as a win.
This crap about “coming out”(as a Republican) there’s not one positive aspect to it. All it will serve to do is divide people. But of course the Republicans all about dividing and conquering, so THEY see it as a win.
This crap about “coming out” (as a Justin Bieber fan) there’s not one positive aspect to it. All it will serve to do is divide people. But of course the Bieber fans are all about dividing and conquering, so THEY see it as a win.
Do you see how stupid you sound?
I'd like to look to the one part of this quote not directly tied to football, specifically the assertion that "there's not one positive aspect to" revealing yourself to be gay. This lesson actually applies to any minority to which you might belong but which isn't obvious to an outside observer (such as being an atheist, too...)
Yip Harburg, the lyricist who wrote the music for the Wizard of Oz movie (including "Somewhere Over the Rainbow") was an atheist but, as per social convention, he never talked about it publicly until much later in life. When he learned that some of his colleagues were atheists as well, he felt somewhat disappointed that he didn't know that at a younger age, pointing out -- accurately -- that if he had known, he'd have had a lot more to talk about with them.
How is creating a community not a positive thing? I have long considered myself one of those prototypical straight allies to the gay community. Why? Because I've taken the time to get to know some gay people. They're not all that different from me or anyone else. You want a positive aspect of coming out? Here's one: it breaks down stereotypes and treats people as, well, people.
At the end of the day, is sexual orientation really any different from the foodstuffs we either do or don't like to eat?
Pioneer: Not quite. But Brendon Ayanbadejo, a former player for the Baltimore Ravens who's spoken up repeatedly on behalf of gay marriage, says that there are gay players in the game who are just waiting for the right moment to come out while still active.
I think there was a player that came out recently; I think he played for the 49ers. Other than that I don't remember seeing any kind of hoopla regarding gay players in the NFL.
I bet this guy is a Tebow fan; not so much for his prowess on the field (when he got a chance to play) but for all the praying in the end zone. Talk about not one positive aspect to it.

Fundie Word Redefinition Project: "Sportsmanship" - Booing a member of the other team when he makes a spectacular play.
Divide and conquer, knuckle-dragger.
Football fans are very likely not to care? Have you ever watched a different sport or the fans therof? Football fans are some of the most manly-men-pretend-assholes you can possible imagine.
After already having had several gay soccer players (in Europe, of course), I'm guessing hockey and baseball will be next sports to have active gay players.
You say that the left is all about dividing people yet they are accepting of gays, latinos, atheists, Muslims, Buddhists, Wiccans, neopagans, women who like to earn a living, women who want control over their own bodies, and moderate Republicans (the world's smallest minority). Which is more than can be said for the extreme right Teabaggers, one of the few groups we DON'T accept. Although I personally prefer the division to be sane and tolerant individuals (which includes people like Christie and now Mark Kirk) vs. the insane and/or bigoted individuals (which includes Santorum, Bachmann, Perry, Ted Nugent...okay, I'll stop because I'd be here a year later still naming if I named them all).
"This crap about “coming out” there’s not one positive aspect to it. All it will serve to do is divide people."
I'm straight, Scottie-boy. Yet, I have no problem with LGBT people in sport.
How does their lifestyle impede performance , pray tell...?
"Football fans are very likely NOT to care about the sexuality of players so long as the STFU about it and get the job done on the field.
"
Indeed.Kind of the point.
"This crap about “coming out” there’s not one positive aspect to it. All it will serve to do is divide people. But of course the left is all about dividing anc conquering, so THEY see it as a win.
"
Make up your mind. Which is it?
"This crap about “coming out” there’s not one positive aspect to it."
Yeah, nothing except not having to live a lie, all day long, every day of your life.
True, I don't care about a players sexuality. I'd argue that it's more the media, and not the players, reporting on the situation that are making a big deal about it. Also, I'd argue that officially coming out and saying "It's not important" is more positive and effectual than letting homophobia fester and saying nothing, but I can see how officially taking a stance on it scares some people.
I posted this in reference to another FSTDT comment below, but it's still relevant here:
What none of these homophobes seem to understand is that "support of our fellow players who are gay" does not equal "we are all now, every single one of us, so gay we spontaneously generate rainbows on the field." Even if we accept the generally accepted statistic that approximately 1/10 people are gay (not to mention the bisexuals), that would only make at most approximately 170 players (out of 1696 total ) gay. Across 32 teams. That's only what, like, 2 or 3 guys (at most) per team?
So their "sick approach" is to allow football players to announce their sexuality, which you just said nobody cared about? Not exactly a major coup, I should think.
I mean honestly, the two halves of this post sound like totally different people. If fans "are very likely not to care", then how does this "divide people"? Unless of course what you mean is "some people care, but aren't going to admit it out loud", which is different (but not really deserving of any sympathy).
This crap about “coming out” there’s not one positive aspect to it.
Absolutely not. Except, you know, showing people that their big hero happens to like the cock, too, as well as showing kids struggling with their sexuality that they are not alone, and that there are people that are gay and are successful, athletic, etc.
So yeah, nothing good for people like you who feel we need to see ourselves as shameful and dirty. And then you wonder why we have such a high suicide rate...
When gay footballs players come out, they demonstrate that their homosexuality makes no difference to their success as athletes. They demonstrate that they're just as good and just as professional as their straight teammates. They demonstrate that the homophobic right-wing hysteria about "gays in the locker room" is so much horseshit. They demonstrate that they should be judged on their merits as football players regardless of their orientation.
They demonstrate that they're equals to everyone else. And that's what has the bigots' panties in a bunch like the frustrated closet cases most homophobes are.
If you simply stopped at the word "players" you'd have the high honor of actually being right about something for once.
Although as a side note, American Football would be gay porn if not for the cheerleaders. Seriously, the players spend the majority of the game huddling, staring directly at the ass of the guy in front of them, or groping for balls in a sweaty dogpile while wearing pads that seem geared more to making them look like beefcake fantasies that actually protecting anyone from injury.

Another prime candidate for "Viz"'s 'Up The Arse Corner' section, methinks. And there's us thinking that homosexuality was banned in the DPRK?! Deep RK? North Korear ?! X3
Confused?
