Meh, I'm not seeing this as sexist. Maybe darndest, but not sexist. Interesting imagery for sure, but the gist I'm getting from this image is: if you artificially inflate your masculinity, it's gonna get deflated - and quite abruptly at that. I'm wary of getting into man-hating territory, but dispelling the image that hypermasculinity is what we must all strive for is toxic for everyone involved.
I struggled for awhile if I should approve that "quote". For me, the sexism is less in the image but in the subtitle:
#MeToo is taking down powerful men in all fields. Is Donald Trump next?
I don't participate in the MeToo thing and I know nobody who does, but I'm sure it's not a feminist conspiracy aimed at "taking down powerful men"...
@SomeApe
To be fair, I don't see anything about a feminist conspiracy there.
It's more about the hashtag of people sharing their experiences (and of course there's going to be a few bullshitters in there because when is there not?) exposing people than anything.
Meh. It looks to be bad taste at first, sure, but #MeToo is about taking on sexual abusers. The only thing that could be remotely wrong about this is the lack of mention of the purpose of the hashtag, and that'll probably be explained further in.
Confused?
