To the Other Anon - I did frequent the IRC, yes. Impatiens sounds like a familiar name, and I'd like to ask if it was 'Hidey', since I seem to associate the two names for some reason. If so, she was someone I sorely missed after she left...Didn't know it was a 'she' though, since I thought Impatiens and Deimos were romantically inclined at one point.
If I'm wrong though, remember that it's been a long time since any of that happened.
I didn't personally see the blow-up from Impatiens, nor do I know who the admin in question was (though I think I could guess.) It scares me that the story doesn't surprise me though. That kind of underhanded thing seems par for the course for the IRC now.
The List Of Things I Remember: WMDKitty being ranted about in the IRC until Chagen made his delightfully stupid comment.
Vene arguing that Chagen shouldn't be banned for making said comment and getting mad at other members of the IRC for outright going to the forum Chagen was from to stop the trolling because it deprived him of a punching bag.
Deimos leaking anything he could to HRG's chat for the purposes of making fun of people in the IRC.
Nappy using Deimos to rile up the people in the IRC.
Queen going on a giant rant at Miles because he argued that she was only going to the forums to troll for HRG.
Ironbite admitting that Nappy would have paid him to troll FSTDT (which was quickly backpedalled to 'it was a joke').
JJ attempting to bribe Miles into joining the military instead of going through with leaving his parents.
The perception of Miles jumping from "It's awesome that he's out" to "He's lazy" in two weeks, despite he and Eniliad jumping to the forums and IRC to talk about his mental and emotional state, with only Keiro ranting about the perceived 'laziness' (Which is adorable when you think about it now.)
The rampant sex and rumormongering between members, including relationships between mods and regular members.
The multiple ragequits from the forum that ended up being short vacations, unless they were unpopular members, in which case the above mentioned rule Nappy made would come into play.
The Social Justice thread, which was made as an excuse to laugh at or push away members who disagree with the 'right thinking people' on a given subject (Read also: Gyeonghwa, Smurfette - at the very *least*).
The constant sexualization of Smurfette from people like Ironbite despite the fact that she was, as I remember, just barely 18 or just under it (with multiple guys saying that they were waiting for her to 'ripen').
Deimos' repeated suicide attempts, because he felt spurned by members of the forums or - in at least one case - members had taken advantage of his mental disabilities.
Ironbite's giant rant about how he's over 30 and can't find love so he may as well just give up on humanity forever (or, from what I've found since this conversation started - may as well just hack his ex's emails.)
Queen, Sleepy, and Ravy going out of their way to take heat off of Distind's HRG thread by constantly flooding him with accusations of transphobia, despite the fact that Sleepy and Ravy actually agree with him on the topic - but hey, what people say under pressure and stress is a good indicator of what they actually believe, I guess.
And, for a fun one - the fact that both Wrightway and Miles were laughed off for having received off-board harassment from members. People disbelieving Wrightway, I can't entirely get mad at them over, considering her history on the board - though the fact that she apparently had *evidence* still gets at me. Miles, on the other hand, still bothers me. He may not have had evidence, from what I remember - but the fact that two forum members were reporting this kind of thing still bears investigation. But no, they disagreed with the wrong people, so fuck them, right? Hell, there was even talk in the IRC that Miles and Wrightway were working together to slander Queen, which is doubly laughable if you remember anything about those two. As has been mentioned earlier - Miles already knew who Wrightway was, the odds of them even *speaking* much less working together on something like that is nil.
Plus, the information Miles was apparently harassed with (people pretending to be his family members, death threats towards himself and said family members, people posting his home address both before and after he left his family) is only stuff that came out of the IRC or - in some cases - PMs to other members, meaning that the only people who could have known were people that were in the IRC, or people that Deimos leaked the information to.
But no, he was either lying, working with Wrightway, or some random lurker on the forum decided to fuck with him.
---------------
TL;DR, The people on the forums are terrible and, when they're not blatantly ignoring their own rules, they're just waiting for someone else to slip up even slightly so they can have an excuse to shrink the echo chamber further. If someone from FQA does end up taking over here - then at the very least, new people should know what they're getting into before going.
Also, Other Anon, someone new may be taking over soon, so note that I may have to stop posting. I wouldn't put it past someone from FQA to trace my IP or whatnot and decide that because I've committed wrongspeak, I need to be put before an audience and flagellated.
I'm not into whips, so I'd rather not take my chances if that becomes the case.
I'm sure that there's more than likely another avenue that we share, if you'd like to continue talking. We might already have each other added on Steam or share a community on Reddit - hell, we might even be lurkers-in-arms at FQA. Just know that even if you thought nobody else knew what level of BS was going on there, myself and several other ex-members agree with you. Especially if the fact that it wasn't just us two posting means anything.
Either way though, I hope greener pastures are ahead for you - as well as anyone reading this from FQA.
