The mistake was allowing them to come in here in the first place. I didn't live in the 1950s but I do remember the US from the 1970s and it was a far better place than it is now, even though what is taking place started in the late 1960s.. Unless you lived in California, it would have been unthinkable to see Mexicans or other South Americans living in other places in the US. The population was mostly European and majority Protestant. This was the glue that held America together.
