This is what is called a _wedge issue_.
When you talk to a liberal just ask which is more important, gay rights or Muslim rights.
They can't have both--the two visions of the future are in total and complete conflict.
Watch the liberal's head spin while they start babbling--"That does not compute. That does not compute. That does not compute..."

The fact that you ask this betrays your view of "rights"; you're assuming that there's a conflict because you're assuming that "Muslim rights" HAVE to include persecution of homosexuals...
They can have the right to live in Western countries and get the same benefits as everyone else. It's you assholes that aren't satisfied with that; it's YOU assholes that demand the right to persecute groups you hate. And now you're projecting.
They can't have both
Ok, so what's more important, the Constitution of the United States, namely the First Amendment, or standing during the national anthem? Watch the Freeper's head spin.
People have rights. But those rights do not include the "right" to deprive others of rights. I know, you Christians think you're being good when you are acting your worst, acting out your hatred of anyone or anything that doesn't fit your warped little perspective on the world, but the rest of us are here to tell you it just isn't so. We actually support your "right to be a Christian", but that's not the same thing as supporting your Christian prejudices.
Your rights end where others' rights begin. Your right to freedom of religion doesn't overrule another's right to life. Therefore Muslims have as much rights provided as everybody else so long as they aren't the kind of Muslim who likes to throw gays off buildings. NECKST!
Say, cgbg, exactly how many liberals have you talked to before. Something tells me the number wouldn't exceed two bits.
Civil rights are not a zero-sum game. Giving one group of people rights does not take rights away from any other group.
The more liberty you give to one group, the more liberty we all share. Isn't that wonderful?
Actually, the only thing that this thought experiment (and I'm being generous by calling it that, since not much thought went into it at all) tells us is that you don't understand:
- Liberals
- Muslim Rights
- Gay Rights
- Actually rights in general
- Human anatomy (since your lack of knowledge and logic is so apparent I can't take your statement of the "liberal's head spin" figuratively, that would take more brainpower than you can obviously provide).
On the contrary, the percentage of American Muslims who favor gay rights is rising, because American Muslims are disproportionately young. More American Muslims accept gays than white evangelicals a low bar, to be sure, but it proves Islam and gay rights are not inherently opposed. And it exposes the hypocrisy of people like this clod.
Uh huh. And are all the xtians over at Free Republic so totally pro-gay now or something?
The entire point of equality is... surprise... to treat GLBT people as equals. And nobody has a right to discriminate against or persecute GLBT people, regardless of religious affiliation or their personal opinion of gay/bi/trans people. Why is this so hard for basic conservatives to understand?
Your right to swing your fist ends where my face begins. This is true for everyone, regardless of religion, race, sex, gender expression, etc.
No, it's not a conflict to say the rights of gays and Muslims are equally important. I can't speak for all of the Western world, but Muslims aren't the ones who are removing people's rights in the United States. Christians are the ones who are doing that.
Neither.
Human rights are human rights. Like the right to be with who you want to be, or the right to worship what and how you want to. No one is saying "Muslim rights" means "force Sharia law on everyone and make it the state religion" except idiots like you.
No head spinning here. All of this computes just fine.
You do realize giving both rights is not contradictory right? Unless... Wait.. Maybe this is why they say what they do about being oppressed. And persecuted. Only one group can have rights and it is not to be shared. As such this post to cgbg makes sense to him. Only one group can get rights.
So which Christians get the rights cgbg? Oh no! His head is spinning as they babble "Does not compute."
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
