If [gays] want marriage MOVE out of here and go somewhere they are accepted as a married couple. The US is not ready for that. Maybe the gay's and The Hollywood people could buy themselves an island and then they can all be happy and keep hating America as they do.

"The US is not ready for that" is a thin veil for "I'm not ready for that". How would it affect you, by the way?
And if the gay folks and their supporters were to move, you'd soon find yourself in a third world country.
"Maybe the gay's and The Hollywood people could buy themselves an island and then they can all be happy and keep hating America as they do."
They already did. It's called Manhattan. It's a nice place. I'd highly recommend visiting it, except that the people there tend to be more open minded, well rounded, and accepting of different peoples, so I don't think you'd like it. Oh, and they don't hate America. That's just your paranoia talking, dear.

Just imagine that for a second: America without Hollywood. America without film industry.
One less major business for the US. One less major export for the US.
One less major reason anyone would give a damn about America within or outside of US.
One less hand holding the global technological and intellectual property treaties in a stranglehold.
(Go ahead, just banish the American music industry too. You know you want to do that too.)
Other hands would replace it, but with their own terms.
Somehow, I don't think USA is ready to let Hollywood go just yet. Call me paranoid that way.
Last time i checked, the emigration process in the states is both complex and rather expensive. It's simply easier to make the states accept gay marriage. Also, isn't hollywood a cornerstone of the american culture and one of the stronger forces in the american economy?
You claim to be the ones who love America, but you clearly hate both Americans and our Constitution, so I have a better idea:
Since you're in the minority, why don't YOU and your friends all move to that island (I'll be happy to start up a collection toward the purchase). Then you can all be happy, keep hating Americans the way you do, and stop taking all of the funding you currently enjoy from the evil Federal government, since it comes from taxes paid by the evil Hollywood people, the gay people, the non-Christian people, the....
I desperately want to move out of the US. However, I do not have the funds to do so. As for the island idea, I, myself, am not inclined to move to the tropics.
"The US is not ready for that."
A small minority of us are, like here in Connecticut and a few other states. I was disappointed that our neighbor and state of my birth, New York, voted the wrong way.
If [gays] want marriage MOVE out of here and go somewhere they are accepted as a married couple.
So..."move out, because you ain't finding any of that life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness shit here," eh? Wait, wasn't THAT what your grand old country was founded on...?
The US is not ready for that.
Actually, the U.S. is largely indifferent to it. The U is the one that isn't, and you try and masquerade that.
Maybe the gay's and The Hollywood people could buy themselves an island and then they can all be happy and keep hating America as they do.
I repeat, by trying to live a happy life, and live to the full potential the Founding Fathers wanted available to all Americans, they hate America? Why do you want to prevent our pursuit of happiness? Why do you choose to oppress your fellow citizens. Indeed, why do you hate America?
@Ozzie: As someone who was born in Connecticut and has lived in New York all her life, I couldn't agree more. But don't worry, the bill failed by a very small margin (and the majority of opponents of the gay marriage bill didn't even openly defend their decisions on the Senate floor- cowards). And just the other day, there was a large rally in Union Square Park demanding that same-sex marriage be legalized. So, not all hope is lost. :)
An entire island just for gay people and Hollywood people? Sound like a show on Fox.
And what about die-hard conservatives among Hollywood people? If we had somebody like a modern John Wayne, would he have to be exiled among all them god-hating liberals 'n queers?
If [gays] want marriage MOVE out of here and go somewhere they are accepted as a married couple
But they don't have to move. Homosexuality is not illegal in the USA, it's just being discriminated against.
keep hating America as they do.
I see, so anyone who doesn't agree with your narrow view of Americana is a hater, eh?
OK, when will we be ready? In another 200 years or so? Or maybe just right after the rapture?
It's not the fault of gays wanting to get married that makes you not ready to accept it.
Well Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont and New Hampshire seem to be ready for gay marriage...

"If [gays] want marriage MOVE out of here and go somewhere they are accepted as a married couple."
Oh. You mean like Vermont, Iowa, one of those places? You know, you might actually enjoy yourself if you stopped trying to run your life using your little book 'o misogny, hatred and genocide -- aka "Holy Bible" -- and joined the 21st Century and reality. Give it a try, little fundie 'tard.
But if, IF, that is too much for you, don't expect the rest of us to live by your bullshit.
You intolerant, bigoted freaks are fighting a rear-guard action (oo-er, missus!) - gay marriage will be legal in the whole of the US before too long and you'll just have to lump it!
The vote went against you in Washington state recently - the first of many!
Why should I move to another country when there are states here in the U.S. that will
In Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, and Vermont, marriages for same sex couples are legal and currently performed.
In New Hampshire, same-sex marriages will begin on January 1, 2010.
In New York and Washington, D.C., same-sex marriages from other states or foreign countries are recognized but they are not performed.
"If [gays] want marriage MOVE out of here and go somewhere they are accepted as a married couple. The US is not ready for that."
But there's evidence to believe it will in the future. SleepNeed posted a chart and here's further evidence .
And many people "weren't ready" for Irish immigrants, the end of slavery, interracial marriages or eating sushi, but we all managed to get by some how.
Sweetie, the only one here hating America is you. Gays are your fellow Americans, like it or not, and they deserve all the rights you enjoy, including marrying the consenting adult of their choice.
The fact that this is from the Glenn Beck Group kinda makes me feel like it's too easy a target. But still...
How is our country not ready for equal rights? Other countries in the world have accepted gay marriage, and so do many people in ours, straight or not.
Also, as for the Hollywood people moving to an island, will all the (many) conservative/Republican celebrities move there as well? Or not...guess we've gotta keep fresh faces like Dennis Miller, Bo Derek, and Jon Voight to schill for the Repubs.
when does the US plan to get ready? Tomorrow? the next day? Never? (I'm willing to bet that Kim would support option 3)
I agree that it's good that, should they wish, a gay couple can find a country that will marry them, but perhaps they should be able to do that in their own country. Why does it seem that the supposed land of equality is often the last to actually enact it?
Who said they hate America? They just want to enjoy a few legal benefits.
I really should thank you closed-minded idiots. Your thoughtlessness helped push me out of sharing some of your opinions and into being a better person.
I seem to remember something about The Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Doesn't marrying your loved one fit into that?
Who said anyone hated America? It's just some back-water, slow-witted, regressive Americans we despise.
Hate is such a strong word, and it hurts the "wearer" more than the "object". Better laugh at or pity someone.
Since when do you speak for me? I've been ready to support gay marriage since even before one of my best childhood friends got screwed out of her late partner's estate. As have many of my family and friends. And I consider myself much more American than any of you bigoted thugs, because I believe in protecting freedom for everyone , not just white, male, heterosexual christians.
You're right about one thing, though. The Hollywood elite can kiss my ass.
Here's the thing, Kimmy: change doesn't give a fuck if you're ready for it or not.
England wasn't ready to cut ties with it's New World colonies. That's why there was a Revolution.
America wasn't ready for emancipation. That's why there was a Civil War.
You weren't ready for civil rights. That's why there were lynchings, water cannons, police dogs, and assassinations.
You weren't ready for any of that change, and it still happened. Change doesn't come when you're ready for it, it comes when it's time for it to come. What matters is how you deal with it. Either you grow the fuck up and accept it, or it rolls you right the fuck over.
"If you don't like it here, fuck off" might be a compelling argument amongst 13 year olds. I know, I heard it more than once at school when I lived in what is now Zimbabwe.
However, we grow out of it. Fundies, on the other hand, never do. And anyway, it seems to me that a lot of Americans do think that the US is ready for gay marriage. So, deal with it and for fuck's sakes grow up.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
