If you believe there is no God, you have faith.

No human can absolutely disprove the existence of any God.
That's because no human can be in all places at all times.

Christians believe in the one true God of the Bible.
The God of the Bible, who can be at all places at all times, tells us in His word that He is the one true God.
Any other "gods" are simply devils.

Atheists, on the other hand, don't have a witness to refer to who can be at all places and all times.
Therefore, they take it on faith that no God exists.
They can't actually prove it.

To sum up:

*If you believe there is no God, you have faith.
*If you simply say that no one can know if there is a God, you don't necessarily have faith.

Theists believe in a god based on a 2000-year old book of mythology written by man, and translated, mistranslated, interpreted, and misinterpreted over the ages.
There are thousands of different religions on earth, with competing claims.
They can't all be true.
They can, however, all be wrong.
They take it on faith that their specific god exists, and claim all other gods are "false" and "the devil".
They can't actually prove it.

Muslims believe in the one true god of the quran.
The each believe the other are evil, the devil, and infidels, and that the other will burn in their version of hell forever for believing in a "false" god.
They can't both be right.
They can, however, both be wrong, and one of the thousands of other religions might be the "one true religion". Or all of the religions are wrong and no religion is the "one true religion".

Theists claim a supernatural god exists that answers prayer and otherwise meddles in people's lives, and is especially concerned with what we do when naked, but they offer no evidence.
Theists claim the bible (or the quran) is the evidence, and the bible (quran) proves the bible (quran) is true, The bible (quran) is the claim, not the evidence.

Atheism is defined by "lack of belief"; specifically "lack of belief" of the supernatural god claims made by the theists.
Atheists don't accept the god claims made by the theists.
Atheism is not a "belief".
Some atheists believe "no gods exist". Not all do however.

We don't have all the evidence in the universe. However, the evidence we DO have strongly suggests a natural origin for the universe, and the way things seem to be going, it will continue to do so. Could that change? Sure, but at this point, it's so unlikely that it's not even worth considering.

The Bible was written by fallible humans who weren't in all places at all times. Sure, they claimed to be "inspired" by your god, but is there any evidence that they were aside from the claim?

Oh, and by the way...stop treating eyewitness accounts as the most reliable form of evidence. Any criminal lawyer will tell you that eyewitness accounts are one of the LEAST reliable forms of evidence.

So here's an idea for a story I've been working on. Let's say that gods do exist, but are created by human worship. So the Norse created Odin, Thor, Loki, etc., the Greeks created Zeus, Poseidon, etc. and so on and so forth. Now in this idea, when a worship dies out, their gods die with them, but remnants of them can survive as long as there are surviving writings.

Now let's say that one god saw the fates of those who came before it and began to fear its own death, as its worshipers made it in their own image. So it got to work. First it instilled the idea in its worshipers that it is the only god. It demonized all other religions, as well - any other gods were actually creatures of pure evil, according to it. It also said that not worshiping it would result in being tortured for eternity, but worshiping it would allow entrance into eternal paradise. Sound familiar yet?

So in this story, it then got the idea of making different religions and sects all dedicated to worshiping it, and all of them thought that all the other ones were worshiping demons. Conflict, after all, breeds zealotry, and zealotry allows survival...

Sound familiar?

I'm not sure how I can write this all up well, but it's a good idea, I think. o///o

In any case, Occam's Razor begs to differ with your statement.

Well, i do NOT believe there are any gods, but that reflects my memory, not faith. I have evaluated the offered evidence, found it wanting, and i remember coming to that conclusion.

Atheism isn’t about ‘prove’ it’s about ‘convinced.’ Right or wrong, i can be convinced about the existence of any gods.

If the only god in the universe is hiding behind a star 4 million light years away, then here on Earth, that’s indistinguishable from a godless universe.
It’s like, if i can’t find ketchup in the fridge or in the pantry, i need to go to the store to get ketchup. If there’s a bottle of the stuff buried under the cottonwood tree, i STILL need to go to teh store. It does nothing for me.

Which is why you’re called a ‘theist.’
I don’t. Thus ‘atheist.’

Don’t need one.
Nothing else in human knowledge required infinite knowledge to hold it to be true.
