[Answer to a poll asking if there should be a death penalty for molesters.]
"Perhaps rehabilitation after first time, if not extenuating circumstances.
Castration and very long prison after second offence.
But Bible doesn't require life for this crime.
The root is probably based in the pornography business, and I'd love to see pornography outlawed completely using the Christian right as judges as to what's acceptable. The idea of free speach in these area's shall be infringed. Says I"

I can't say I disagree entirely with the molestation thing, but as for the second part... er... yeah, says you. As opposed to, Idunno, says the constitution.
And why not infringing your right to free speech?, if we start making exceptions with law, well, you know what happens. Let me tell you something else, there has been punitive measures as the ones you explain LONG BEFORE the current cases. They simply don´t work.
I was talking about Socrates and his trial. I don´t think that playboy or some sort of equivalent show was implied. Or to the multiple references in the Greek mythology(not Rome). Besides, don´t call pornography the frescii in Pompeii or Ovid. There is a difference between the mere depiction of sex and pornography.
using the Christian right as judges as to what's acceptable
The very concept terrifies me beyond words.
Obscenity is already illegal and not protected by the First Amendment. But to be considered obscene, it has to meet all of these three conditions: (a) it has to pander primarily to prurient interests, (b) it has to be without redeeming social value, and (c) it has to be offensive to contemporary community standards. The third one is actually the hardest, because it has to be offensive to the standards people actually have, not the ones they profess to have. The Christian right is as hypocritical as any when it comes to doing and saying two different things.

How so? Pornography needn't even be as explicit as depicting sex. It certainly isn't the evil thing ignorant people try to portray it as.
Face it, the first time man drew pictures, past spitting paint on his hand, he drew figures with boobs.
The first time man learned to make sculptures, he followed up and made sculptures of fertility goddesses.
The first time man mastered photography he started taking nude shots.
The first time man printed photographic magazines, they were 'nature' magazines.
Practically the first movies were pornography - they were the first commercial application. (Blame the 50's for the absurd morals you have to put up with today)
Postcards might've had a pornographic origin too. (not 100% on that one).
Barbie was originally an adult novelty doll in Germany.
The internet was invented and the second it got to the stage where pictures could be exchanged...
mpeg formats...
webcams...
Just because pornography has evolved, doesn't mean that it only ever existed in it's current form. It always has been the application that's driven the bleeding edge of technology.

Only I and those who agree with me must judge.

Do whatever you want to "free speach", buddy... but leave free speech alone!
You've eaten paste again, haven't you?
You're a grade-a moron. Says I.
Ah, yes, because the Constitution and one of our fundamental freedoms can be suspended on the say-so of some random guy on the Internet. I forgot about that. I can't believe I never read Article CDXX of the Constitution "Neither this Constitution nor the Amendments contained within shall apply when any Citizen of the United States or a Resident of any of the several States declares them void by writing a Declaration in any online Forum or other electronic Medium accessable by Modem."
Of course, porn has absolutely no connection to molestation or rape.
I support putting pedophiles in a large, firm chair, cutting their asshole stomachs open, shitting in them, sowing it up, and opening it up again and pissing in it, then dunking their heads in acid and pouring salt on their wounds. Afterwards, shoot them and wank on their shithead graves.
Of course the bible doesn't advocate death for this time, if it did, there would be nobody teaching it! (reference to pedophile preists, I know, the joke sucks)
"extenuating circumstances"? For molestation ? WTF?
"Honestly, your honor, I didn't know little Susie was drunk, and she swore that she was at least 12!"
"Christian right as judges as to what's acceptable."
Goddamn, I'm a fully fledged pervert and even I dread some of the things that might wind up deemed acceptable (provided they're done to members of other tribes of course) in that eventuality.
No! Death penalty is wrong! You can't take it back if you accidentally convict someone who's actually innocent, and it's rather stupid to show that it is wrong to kill human beings by killing a human being.
Once you make one exception from free speech, it's easier to make the next one, and the next one, and the next one. Soon there is no FREE speech, just "you can have any color you want on a Ford, as long as you want it black".
Nope, the Bible doesn't concern itself with child molesters. It's much more important to talk about how to deal with people who eat shellfish, or wear polyester, or work on the Sabbath, or cut their hair and beard, or...
Confused?
