I would be fine with it not being called marriage but that's not enough for fundies. The mere existence of happy same sex couples pisses them off.
The thing is that they're like this:
Fundie: Gay people are so sinful. God says that having any sex outside of the framework of marriage is a sin.
And as much as I agree with you, I think by not calling their marriages marriages does them a disservice and is offensive by insinuating that what they have isn't as much a marriage as heterosexual couples' marriages. Plus it feeds into the fundies' claims that "it's not real marriage."

I hope English is his THIRD language. As my username indicate, English is not my first but my second language, and I'd be ashamed of such a poor grasp of it. German is my third language, and yes, I probably do similar errors when speaking or writing in German (though I'm ashamed of those errors too, if I see/hear them).
As to the magistrate, I'd say it's better to resign when you feel you can't perform a certain task, than to refuse to perform the task (like Kim Davis) and keep people from getting married. But yes, s/he should not get compensated for being a hateful homophobe.

Why is it so hard to grasp: marriage is a lot of things. If you want marriage to be between a man and woman only because of your religion, then great! Go do that.
But don't expect the rest of the world to conform to that. Not everyone follows your religion.
