Have you thought about the logical consequences if everyone was an atheist like you? If everyone followed their "own path" what sort of world do you think we would have? If people are not willing to abide by God's laws or that of the government the result would be total anarchy which would ultimately result in the destruction of all mankind.

(sigh) Typical fundy reasoning.
P1: Atheism is evil (idiotic idea caused by a belief in one's own infallibility)
P2: Evil is monolithinc (idiotic idea caused by a belief in Satan, an amalgum of all theoretical evils)
C: Atheists would spread anarchy because it's evil and they are evil. (idiotic conclusion)
I have a feeling that proof would be hailed if posted on a fundie forum (minus the parentheticals). The sad thing is that I just put a fundie argument into a more logical format than they've ever been able to, merely in the act of refuting it.
I think the world would be better off, frankly. At least people would be making informed, logical decisions, instead of relying on a 2000-year old book of fairytales to tell them how to live their life.
Ahh yes, this old rule again.
God's commandments are based on simple social convention. Evolutionists have a sense of social convention. Unlike you Christians, who clearly can't be bothered "loving thy neighbour".
If everyone was an atheist, we might have fewer wars, as one reason for wars is "my god is tougher than your god".
Rational people abide by state laws, i.e. the laws of the government. Not many government laws are God's laws.
Looking at how many different Christian denominations there are, it seems Christians also follow their "own path".
"or that of the government" Laws of the land
Older than your Bible.
Countries with the highest levels of Atheism are statistically less violent and have lower instances of societal ills. Especially when compaired to mostly religious or religious ran countries
We have total anarchy now, where religion and government mix.
Gods laws=\= goverment laws.
The logical consequences of the world suddenly all becoming atheist would be - Middle East Peace, the end of Terrorism in the name of some god, god inspired opression - fuck the list is endless. Bring on Chaos!

Stop it, you're turning me on. Besides, to quote John Lennon (from his song "Imagine"):
'Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too'

Just like the fundie, 'God's Law'-abiding Timothy McVeigh. Amirite?
Ergo, the superiority of Atheism. QED.
Ethics was a well established branch of philosophy long before the birth of Jesus. There are extensive writings about ethics among the works of the Greek philosophers. The latter considered ethics to be distinct from theology, because the Greek gods had no interest in how their followers lives as long as their followers praised and feted them. I shall leave comparisons between said pagan gods and the evangelical concept of Christ up to the reader.
The point is, ethics is NOT a function of theology. Christianity and Islam have merely attempted to co-opt ethics and claim them for their own.
If everyone was an atheist New York would still have its Twin Towers, nobody would be getting blown up in Iraq or Pakistan or Afghanistan, and you could sit next to a brown guy on an airplane and not worry your silly little fundy head off that he's a terrorist waiting to strike.
Coming to think of it, the world would probably be a spectacularly prosperous and peaceful place if everybody was an atheist. I'd take the risk and find out, if it were possible to uninvent religion.
That's why we have civil laws, sweetie. Atheists follow them just fine. We don't have the government giving us arbitrary and mysterious rules about wearing mixed fabrics or coveting my neighbor's oxen. They tell us sensible things, like No Turn on Red, or Right Lane Must Exit, or Taxes are due by April 15. There are REASONS for the laws of the government. In most cases they don't tell us what to do "Because I say so".
While I absolutely agree that equating atheists with anarchists and believing that everyone being an anarchist would lead to the destruction of mankind is silly to the highest degree, I really don't believe that a world full of atheists would be better of. South Park pretty much nailed it when they made an episode about exactly that scenario. Wars wouldn't be fought over religions, but over ideologies, ressources... the list goes on. Terrorists would use their own worldview to justify their actions just like they always did. And saying that atheists have better judgement and moral skills is also very questionable. Some do, some don't. Religion can have an impact on those skills... but so do certain ideologies, the environment you live in, mental health etc, which won't disappear because there are no religions anymore. Sane people will remain sane, the others will simply find something new to obsess over.

Yes, rather a lot of land and businesses would become subject to taxes.Joel Osteen couldn’t become rich promising that nothing above waits for those who donate to his nothing.

Well, hospitals are useful, so we’d have hospitals that didn’t have pictures of jesus ever ten feet.
Might get a wider selectionof songs in the first grade Winter Holiday recital.
A lot of land opened up for development downtown.

Why do you lump atheism with anarchy?
“the result would be total anarchy which would ultimately result in the destruction of all mankind.”
You’re projecting. I follow plenty of rules, just not out of fear of a divine retribution.
Confused?
