This post reminded me to mention something! I usually fit a lot of these absurd "low T" criteria that misogynospherists pull out of their asses, so I have seriously set up a lab appointment to have my T tested next Monday. I'll definitely be sharing the results and even scanning images of it. And I'm gonna spam the hell out of them on every single blog entry, Reddit post, etc. that prattles on about this not-even-pseudoscientific garbage.

As you can probably tell, I'm more than confident that my testosterone levels are going to come back completely normal. That's because, well, I'd most likely actually be showing real symptoms of an imbalance if my testosterone were too low (or too high for that matter).

I originally suggested testing my testosterone levels at the follow-up appt with my doctor last Friday. I presented with vaguely secondary symptoms of low testosterone that technically aren't lies, but I know they have other causes.* But my doc and I joke around and cut up so much I wound up telling her why I really wanted to have it checked and showing her some of this stupid-ass shit. (I also read Bathtub Leviathon to her one time!) She thought it was completely hilarious, completely dismissed the possibility I had low T, commended me on being just vague enough to warrant a "just to make sure" test (her words), and got her secretary to put in some kind of lab panel that includes testosterone. The whole test, consultation with a lab RN, and everything is only just a little over $100 out-of-pocket. (I'm too honest to try to get insurance to pay for this.) Totally worth it.

[aside]* Hypo everything: Hypotension, hypopyrexia, hypoglycemia. These cluster together when there's a deficiency of another hormone responsible for regulating testosterone production. It's called the LH hormone, but I forgot what it stood for. I only know about it because I had it checked when I was on the test-go-round more or less required to diagnose lupus. Anaemia (seems to run on the maternal side of the family + accompanies lupus), periods of depression, low energy, and hypersomnia (my bipolar). Also a history of delayed puberty on father's side of the family (didn't affect me, though), a just barely noticeably low bone density test (almost certainly the result of treating acute lupus symptoms with prednisone and prednisolone), 'ectomorphic' body shape (also those damn lupus steroids), no armpit hair (and no idea why, it's just freakishly odd especially given the rest of my body ain't exactly smooth).[/aside]
