A large segment of those living with AIDS are IV drug users, prostitutes, men who hire prostitutes, the wives of men who hire prostitutes, anyone who has had sex with anyone in the previous groups, those who used infected blood, and the children of women with AIDS. What do those people have to do with gay sex?

Okay, smart ass, how do we stop the AIDS that is ravaging Africa? It's mostly being spread by heterosexual sex. Clearly teaching abstinence only (the Catholic Church has been doing that for decades in Africa) isn't working.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are multiple strains of HIV, and it is Subtype B which transfers more readily between homosexual males. The nastiest of the strains is Subtype D, which is affecting Uganda.

Why just men? Women can contract HIV just as well as men can. And HIV is a fairly new virus. Imagine if HIV becomes as contagious as measles. How do you know it won't develop a more efficient transmission path; all it would take is a few mutations. Oh, yeah, I know, you don't believe in evolution, either.

And there have been reports of a few instances of people who have contracted the disease, but have become immune to it. Once the research labs get a hold of samples from those people, and they map out the genome of that HIV virus from said immune people, then I fear - as far as you fundies are concerned - that your precious 'God's Wrath against those you... HIV is spread by direct fluid-to-fluid contact. This means penetrative sex of any kind, blood transfusions, drinking breast milk, or being a fetus in a mother with the virus. Probably some other things I missed.
Are blood transfusions, breastfeeding, and being pregnant sinful, too? Because, last I heard, you were quite fond of that last one.

At a generous estimate, gay men account for about 10% of AIDS cases across the world; even in the United States, that still leaves a third of cases left. A much large number are those babies born inheriting HIV from their mothers. And you couldn't give a fuck about the research going to prevent the blighting of more children's lives, or for their welfare, let alone whether these children lived or died. And yet you dare to call yourself "pro-life."
