The library system all over the country has several homosexuals on staff. Now many of us believe that their lifestyle carries with it -- deviant behaviors, but nothing is done there. I believe I read somewhere about statistics revealing that the majority of sex crimes on children were male on male. Just another reason that libraries are no longer a safe haven for children.

You know, I seem to remember that a far greater proportion of sex attacks against children were 'adult on child'! Let's tackle the big problems first, hey?

Until 'adults' are no longer able to get their perverted, dirty hands on these poor innocents, no child is completely safe.

I hear some of them regularly refer to a book that talks of children "suffering", and being beaten or even killed! Sometimes they even have wild animals set upon them, yet this is all portrayed as good!

Sickest of all, some 'adults' even read this book to children. Presumably in some depraved effort to indoctrinate the child with their own evil.

Just another reason that everywhere in the world is no longer a safe haven for children.

Probably true - but paedophilia does not equate to homosexuality, and paedophilic preference for boys or girls is generally believed to be largely independent of any sexual orientation with respect to adults; indeed, I gather the majority of men who are attracted to young boys are functionally heterosexual in adult relationships.

Whether or not you have paedophilia is as independent of your adult sexuality as any other mental illness would be. Even if you insist on categorising homosexuality as a mental illness, which isn't done any more, the likelihood of paedophilia and its orientation would be as independent from the presence or absence of homosexuality as it would be from the presence or absence of, say, arachnophobia or OCD.

You read wrong.

And I believe I can even infer the source for that is Paul Cameron, disreputable "scientist" who has been thrown out of numerous organizations for shoddy research. he's made his career throwing out these kinds of crap "statistics" to give bigotry against gay people a pseudo scientific veneer of validity.

First, most cases of child molestation are adult on child. pedophiles by their nature, don't want secondary sexual characteristics in their victim. So a girl or a boy, it doesn't matter generally. and most pedophiles are heterosexual.

And secondly, most cases of child molestation are not done by strangers but by someone close to the child.

In short, ,just because you read something that reinforces your prejudices, don't assume that makes it true.

So the most likely child victim is a young girl attacked by someone either in or close to the family.

As a male employee of a public library, specifically the children's room (though I'm heterosexual, but supportive.)
I would kindly ask you to shut the fuck up about Libraries being these gulags of sexual deviance. I believe plenty is done to protect children, including several cameras that cover a large portion of the library, a full time staff who try with all our abilities to constantly monitor the area, and a reminder that parents have to be in the room with their children.

In fact the bigger threat to children's safety (at least their mental safety) is intolerant fuckwits like you who come in with your Chick Tracts, or just walk up to people and try to make 'em 'Accept Jeusus, and put down that Rowling.' If that isn't enough you then give us grief about having too much 'secular' literature, even when we have an entire Christian section and no other religion (We would have other sections, but we never had a person of Islam or Bhuddism ask for one, maybe its because they have better things to do.)

So it isn't the gays I'd be worried about at the library, its you.
(Sorry for a long post, but those lot get on my nerves on the job)
