[On OT-laws that force rape victims to marry their tormentor:]
Consider the times: raped women were considered "Damaged goods" back then, and still are now in many countries. Even in developed nations, raped women are stigmatized; it was even more so back then.
Raped women would never get married if God didn't make thier attackers marry them. Furthermore, God punishes those men not only by ordering that they pay fines to the family of the girl, but those men are never allowed to divorce those women; this is regardless of how obnoxious, disobedient, fat or lazy she gets, and regardless of whether or not she refuses to have sex with him. And those men will never abuse her, because he's already been publically disgraced and labeled as a rapist, and already had to answer to her family; those men will not do anything to risk further humiliating themselves.

Oh for fuck's sake. God had no trouble telling people to not worship other gods. Why couldn't he say, "Hey guys, she isn't damaged goods, she's a victim, treat her good or there's gonna be a divine boot up your ass, dig?"
What if the woman doesn't want to get married to the guy who brutally violated her? And if a guy rapes a woman once, if she refuses to have sex with her, what stops him from doing it again? As for public disgrace and humiliation, I think you would be surprised at some of the stupid and humiliting things people do.
When you have to try this hard to justify your holy book's misogynistic bullshit, that should really tell you something, about both the book and yourself.
Yeah, that'll show sex offenders. Child molesters should get the same punishment, I suppose. Embarrassment alone will be enough to put criminals in their place. Thieves can work at the stores they steal from, murderers can be invited to the weddings of the families they murder relatives of. Fantastic!
Shitbins (not a typo), we post lots of silly stuff on this forum, and we love to mock it, but this isn't funny. With a forum as large as yours, there are no doubt a few women who have been raped, and you're adding insult to injury with this crap.
The more they try to justify and explain the sick crap in the bible, the worse it sounds.
What gave this dumbass the idea that men couldn't beat their wives or force them to have sex? They were property!
For me, this statement has made things worse, not better. So, you're admitting that women are property, that men can divorce them if they are fat, lazy, disobedient and don't have sex with them and you think that they will not abuse them, BEING RAPIST, NOT GOING TO JAIL AND UNABLE TO HAVE A DIVORCE. Have you ever wondered how many men would commit that attrocity to coerce women to marry them if they don't want to?
The part of the social stigma is ridiculous. Why do you think that they're going to do anything to him because he's a rapist, when they kill off people for far less than that?. Do you think that he cared about the woman when he raped her?, do you think that he cares what other people think of him, once he has scaped punishment?. Moreover, are you hinting that people are allowed to abuse their wives because they've not been rapists?
The fact that a woman had been raped in her past, did not stop me from loving her.
I'm not sure how to label this fallacy, but it's pitiful anyway.
Okay so the whole 'raped woman should be forced to marry her rapist' really speaks for itself but I'm also amazed by the quote ,
"raped women were considered "Damaged goods" back then, and still are now in many countries. Even in developed nations, raped women are stigmatized; it was even more so back then.
Raped women would never get married if God didn't make their attackers marry them."
Don't you think the problem is that these ignorant people consider a raped woman to be 'damaged goods'?? This is the problem with these goddamn people they always assume everyone else on the planet is as cold and unfeeling as them. I for one would not refuse to marry a woman because she'd been raped. I would not look upon her as 'damaged goods' but as a human being who was viciously attacked one time. Maybe if we educated you ignorant pricks to a degree that you could think the same thing of a raped woman we wouldn't have to go forcing them to marry their attackers. Just a thought.
Heh. "Final Thread On Rape And The Bible".
Shinbits basically says, "I pulled a lot of baseless claims out of my ass to explain this, so no once else is allowed to bring it up ever again, 'cause I've cleared it all up."
He has to be one of the most disgusting things to ever breathe air.
Let me get this straight, a man who commits an act of violence by raping a woman is then going to be too scared of being disgraced and humiliated to do any more violence to her? And assuming she is a spoil of war, what fucking family of her's will he have to answer to, the dead or enslaved one? You really are a naive idiot aren't you shinbits!
I'd call you an asshole, but that's an insult to all self-respecting assholes out there. I know a few. They don't deserve to be lumped in with you.
That article about the california rape thing. Agreed. That's just dumb. It's not rape if you get bored half way through. Then it's just bad sex.
@Jon
That would be horrible... And it would make for a very very disturbing world...
Pedo: Hey Taxi could you got and pick up my wife?
Taxi Driver: I guess, if I have a discription. Why can't you?
Pedo: Well I would but I'm not allowed near Elementry schools, especially the car rider section.
(Ugh)
@Rhys:
A simple punishment for rapists (including pedophiles):
2 Bricks.
No anesthetic. No treatment. *SLAM*
Are the bricks in a pillowcase for extra momentum?
I'm still not clear on how giving a woman wholesale to her attacker qualifies as justice. Even if looked at in the most depraved, misogynistic fashion possible, there's still the issue of violating someone else's property. (Of course, the "property" in question belongs to the woman herself in the real world, but that goes without saying around here.)
The social stigma for the rapist sounds even more ridiculous for people who stigmatised alike women who were innocent. What's the point?. Moreover, how will he feel stigmatised if adulterous women get stoned and he gets away with that, just because of a stupid technicality, that is, that the girl was not married?. It's not a punishment, it's a reward.
And there is no provision if they're gang-raped?, because polyandry doesn't exist, as far as I'm concerned(and not serial monogamy, if the guy can't repudiate her). Well, what about the angels of Sodom and Gomorra?, maybe they would have liked marrying one of the guys in the group, why was it non-negotiable?
@Zimmie
The problem isn't with the legal definition of rape. Obviously that case was a grey area and the judge made a mistake interpreting the law. However, I fully support the right of any person to decide during sex that they are not comfortable with continuing, and any decent person would cease and desist.
The problem I have with articles like this is that it not only paints women with the "wishy-washy, flighty" brush but paints men with the "uncontrollable, animalistic brute" brush. I don't care how old or how horny you are. Men are fully capable of controlling themselves and implying that they are mere victims of their hormones is offensive to any decent man not looking for an excuse to rape.

@Darwin's Lil Girl
You'd be surprised how much you still hear that a woman is at least partially responsible for her rape because...
she was promiscuous
she lead him on
she dressed "like a slut"
she was drunk
she should have known something like this would happen (at a frat party, for example)
Sure, date/grey rape happens more in situations like frat parties, but that doesn't mean it's her fault or she is responsible. The likelihood that I will be mugged increases dramatically when I walk on the "wrong side" of town, but nobody will tell me it's my fault for being there or for dressing "like a rich person."
So, are you suggesting that people at the time were domestic abusers or wife dumpers?, what would prevent the rapist from doing it, since she can't get rid of him?
Confused?
