“Homosexuality is not just another sin,” he said according to Right Wing Watch, “it is the sin that defines rebellion against God, the outer edge of rebellion against God and it is the harbinger of God’s wrath, that’s why the Scripture gives the warning, ‘as in the days of Noah.’”

This is relatively recent. Americans used to go to Thailand to have sex with 9 yr olds, since there was no crime committed on American soil the prosecutors couldn't do anything, and the congressional fundies had no interest in this. It was only after decades of agitation by liberals that congress passed laws saying Americans can be arrested and tried for things they did in another country.

This was mostly focused on rape and child sex tourism, I didn't know that could be done with crimes against humanity.

It might be worth pointing out that in cases, someone who "gets off on a technically" doesn't actually get off. A retrial is called, minus whatever piece of evidence or procedural complication led to the mistrial, and usually they're found guilty anyway. The point of the whole thing is to make sure the process is adhered to rigorously, not to reward the accused for the prosecution's mistakes or vice versa.

One well-known example is the case leading to Miranda v. Arizona. The appeal led to the conclusion that the original verdict was tainted by the fact that Miranda hadn't been properly informed of his rights (hence the so-called "Miranda warning"), but in retrial the other evidence was enough for the jury to convict.

The Shekhinah ('The Presence/Power of God') is regarded as Feminine.

And YHVH - Yod Hei Vav Hei...The Tetragram (Four Letter Name)...is regarded as Father (Yod), Mother (Hei), Son (Vav), Daughter (Hei).

The Holy Spirit is also seen by some as Feminine.

Thus, even when it seems the Divine Feminine has been removed by frummies, Esoteric-thinking Judeo-Christians still see both Genders in Deity.

The Hebrews didn't really think this "Get Rid of The Goddess" stuff through, did they?

Regarding why the gay rights movement is having more success than those others that you've listed:

The biggest issue faced by blacks isn't racism. It is ignorance. I have heard many people on Facebook supporting the police in all of the recent cases (except for some who reluctantly oppose the choking case), not out of genuine malice, but out of ignorance. They don't realize that there were racial issues under the surface for years, and they don't understand them. For the large part, many don't have much experience with blacks other than the odd token black friend. By contrast, a person who is attracted to the same gender can be anyone. An all white small town won't suddenly have two white parents give birth to a child with very dark skin, but homosexuality can emerge anywhere. As such, homosexuality is something that people can have more experience with.

As an example of this, I have a friend, whom I'll call Theo for the sake of this Internet discussion. On Facebook, he often expresses support for gay rights, and against the religious right (he's atheist). He also leans to the right on a number of issues and supports the police in all of the recent cases (except the choking one). He isn't racist. He just isn't fully aware of the racial tensions that existed beforehand. By contrast, he knows fully well how the Religious Right treats LGBTs even though he isn't one himself (possibly because Theo is an atheist).

Scott Lively, the Bible says nothing about homosexuality in the days preceding the Deluge.

It just says that women mated with fallen Angels/Demons/something, bred a race of super-humans that were apparently super-evil & super-violent. The Bible even SPECIFIES then sin by saying that they "Thought of violence constantly".

As the myth implies, the whole human race (apart from Noah's family) were basically a race of Ted Bundies). Being LGBT never was an issue. Please quit making up stuff!

What the quote shared by Hertz is saying is that it's that it's people hateful, cruel bigoted words that defile them. Hertz might be on OUR side.

Hmmm, nope, I'm pretty sure that the concensus among theologians is that if one sin is worse than the other, the worst one -the one that caused Lucifer to fall- is Pride. Homosexuality didn't even make it into the seven major/deadly ones.

Also, I hope you rot in jail for a loooong time... Enjoy being Bubba's bitch.

I don't see how anyone--even fundies--could not realise how ridiculous that sounds. So what they did to innocent people in the Bosnian War, in Rwanda, in the Holocaust, isn't as bad as two men or two women having sex with each other. Yeah.

While I've always thought that the saying that fundies never read their Bible was overexaggerated (because I know many fundies, who have all read the Bible cover to cover at least once in their lives), there does indeed seem to be some truth in that, because you could look in the relavent chapter of Genesis and find no mention of homosexuality in the story of Noah's flood. If we take the fundie worldview as truth and actual history, than homosexuality was merely one of the many sins the people in Noah's day were committing that made God so angry.

Yes it is, Scott. Read what the New Testament has to say on that--all sins are the same in God's eyes.

Considering that Scott resorts to lying about the Bible (that's a sin, Scott) to justify his insane obsession with homosexuality, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Scott's bisexual (at the very least).
