The Old Testament is a constant stream of the Hebrews fucking up, and God punishing them. The flaws don’t make the characters human, they justify God’s treatment of his chosen people.

In the eddas, Thor goes into Giant lands and fucks the giants’ wives. He gets caught. When he comes running back with justifiably angry husbands in hot pursuit, he shouts that the giants are attacking Asgard, and everyone runs to the defense of Asgard, actually saving Thor from the consequences of his actions.
Zeus was all the TIME cheating on his wife, and either turning women into constellations to hide them, or Hera turned them into beasts for revenge.
The Goddess Inanna died in Hell and had to find a substitute. Someone had to take her place so she could go back to Heaven. She left her husband there.

By the time he got the last insult, where a neighbor wanted him to give up land for their convenience, a few advisors still demanded war. Most were giving the king answers they thought he wanted. “Who can deny a few acres to a neighbor, sire.”
He shouted that land is the basis of kings’ rule, giving it up is giving up power, beheaded the ass kissers, and rode to war and victory (because no one expected military action by that time).
