Because your parents have plans to retire from parenthood, that's why! You feel bad about yourself...because you DON'T have a life or a job. Get one fast, before your folks sell the house and leave no forwarding address.
There is no such thing as a "normal life", dearie. All lives are different, and all lives have similarities with others.
Why not watch all the other lone men walking?
Your parents are getting older, dolt. Sooner or later you'll have to be their carer, instead of their moocher. They and society will probably see that care as your payment for mooching on them for years and years, and any inheritance you had been hoping for, might be eaten up by non-universal-healthcare bills and Big Pharma-inflated medication prices.
