"Isn't it funny how atheist-taught "science" and Satan are so closely related doctrinally?"

Sorry guys, but this is not quite the "WTF?" everyone is making out.
As far back as the 1920s, anthropologists believed that what had been described as witchcraft were the vestiges of earlier pagan-European nature worship. The church (and fundies) regularly conflate the two, hence confuse nature worship with green politics with environmental science.
On top of this is the doctrine of the "Church of Satan" founded by Anton LaVey. Among the "nine statements" of the Satanist doctrine we find assertions that “Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit!” and “Satan represents man as just another animal” with which they find obvious parallels to methodological naturalism and evolution.
This is, of course, to be expected. LaVey was considerably influenced by modern philosophy, especially Ayn Rand and Ragnar Redbeard who advocated objectivism and social Darwinism (respectively).
In short, yes, science and “Satanism” (in its modern form) are closely related. But this is because the Satanists copied the scientists, not the other way around.
And if "Satan" is stealing science's ideas and perverting them, surely this makes them true? After all, isn't that what fundies say Satan tries to do to Christian 'truths' all the time?
I have a different take on it than David B. You see, everything that is "Not Christianity" is Satan. And since atheism is Not Christianity, in Fundyworld, that means it's Satan!
Yeah, makes fuck-all sense to normal people. But it is what it is.
Except, David B., modern Satanists don't worship Satan. (Well, except for a few nutcase or splinter-sect types.)
And I'm still trying to find out what the mythical figure Satan and evidenced science have in common...
Thanks David B., I wasn't aware of that relation.
Still, the military teaches that there's the right way, the wrong way, and the military way. I guess for separation of church and state, they had the leave off the forth and final bit, "the fundie way."
From what I recall, there are passages in the New Testament telling you to Believe rather than to Think.
So, yes, science and Satan are related. And this disturbs me ... but for a very different reason than why it disturbs AV1611VET.
Of course it is, since you and yours are so intent to align Satan with anyone who asks questions, or seeks knowledge. Or differs from your views at all. Or pretty much anyone who isn't exactly like you in any way shape or form.
Honestly, I'd rather take it up with Satan.
He seems much more interesting a personality than God.
All the things we can't do with God we can do with Satan.
And frankly, I feel that's fine.
This is the problem. You have your head buried so far in your book of hate, not realising it has been chopped and changed numerous times. So much to the point that none of it can be proven.
Your doctorine doesn't compare science to satanism. You're the one doing that. Trying to disprove science with your fairytales, doesn't bring them any closer to fact.
Isn't it funny how "Santa" and "Satan" are so close to being the same name? That means Christmas is an evil-inspired holiday and that Jesus was really *Satan* incarnate!
Or, wait...
Isn't it funny how Satan and Barney are related by some simple mathematics? That means Barney is teaching our children to be Satan-worshippers!
No, hang on a sec...
Isn't it funny how Satan is never referred to as an actual person in the Bible? That means you're full of shit!
Yeah, that was the one.
Dammit, I want to edit!
I had meant in the Pentateuch, sorry. Greek writers were very well-known for personifying human attributes (Satan in Aramaic meant "enemy") for the sake of a story.

(Yeah, that's *Christians* saying this one...like I heard it the first time, in fact.)
Just thought you all might want to know I'm not a moron. (Not all the time, anyway.)
Technically, this is guilt by association, a well known logical fallacy.
Association with non existent entities, no less.
So.....Satan is about hypothesis, test, observation, analysis and reporting? And finding answers as well as helping enhance the quality of life? Are you sure you know whose side you're on AV1611VET?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
