It's very kind of you to think of us, but we’ve received what the Bible calls "a sound mind." It's because of the sound mind that we have in Christ that we don't kill each other, or lie to or steal from each other.

Neither do we ruin our marriages through adultery, have our children killed in the womb, or get STD's through fornication. We don't need the poison of alcohol, nor do we need to clutch onto the crutch of a cigarette or cloud our brains with marijuana. We are no longer deceived by the unscientific fairytale of evolution, or believe in the impossibility that nothing created everything.

We don't even believe in secular "therapy." This is because psychologists have no standard by which they can measure sanity. We do. God's Word is sufficient for our every physical and psychological need.

One other thing. We no longer experience guilt or fear of death (as you do--we have the inside story on you and the rest of humanity) because God has forgiven our sins and given us everlasting life as a free gift.

I'm not being facetious, but I hope that you will come to your senses, repent of your sins and trust in Jesus. If you do that, a blind and insane world will think you are nuts, but that comes with the territory. God will help you to handle it.

Me either. But I didn't need the persistent threat of an all-loving sky pixie throwing me into eternal torture to keep me from doing any of that. I just decided I didn't want to.

Evolution is scienttific because there is evidence other than a 2,000 year old book of stories to back it up. The fairytale is that a man and a woman were poofed into existance from dust and a rib respectively and then went on to create ~7 billion descendants. And as for nothing creating everything, isn't that what your god did? Where DID he (and of course it's he, because your storybook says so) come from?

I don't know what evolution or the big bang has to do with a "sound mind". The fact that you reject secular "therapy" (gotta love the scare quotes) is not surprising since it's SCIENCE! And Ray, you don't seem to understand what they do when you talk about "measuring sanity".

As for guilt or fear of death, I've heard Christians express both. So <buzzer> you're wrong again!

Ray, if a "sound mind" means that you think demons cause sickness and earthquakes are a sign of the end times, then I'll pass, though I can see why you mention that you have only the Bible's insistence that your mind is sound, not any demonstration of actual soundness.

But what I find far more interesting is this line: We don't even believe in secular "therapy". Why I find this interesting is that I've often been told that Christians have a lower rate of autism, depression, and other illnesses than atheists. I've never thought too highly of those claims, even when they did have numbers, and this is my reason why not. Fundamentalist churches teach an open disdain for psychology and therapy in general, so its no wonder that Christians from those churches would report lower rates of such illnesses. It's not because they are healthier, but because they refuse to seek out treatment and instead blame demons for everything.

You know what? I'm an atheist and I don't either. While I do imbibe in an alcoholic beverage once in a while, I don't need it.

Many professed Christians have committed heinous crimes, others have cheated on their spouse, undertaken abortions, caught STDs, drank alcohol, smoked tobacco or cannabis, and accept science. They all claim to hold the Bible dear, but go against these opinions of yours, so it is obvious that it is not a good deterrent to anything ungodly. Sure, you can claim that they aren't true Christians, but who are we to judge? They all claim to worship the same deity as part of the same religion as you, so, if your holy book was this strong at teaching morals, then we'd see the consequences. Instead, society has accepted the necessity of some of the deeds you've listed and sought answers outside of religion for others because it is not capable of providing them.

Nonsense! When the time is nigh most of us, Christians included, experience fear; even the most convinced Christian errs when the chips are down. If you don't experience guilt, Ray, it tells me that you are a prideful fool that cares little for those that you have wronged in the past. As a Christian, even you must realise that humans are fallible, so you'll mistreat others. Without the guilt you won't experience genuine sorrow. God won't like you from refusing to take responsibility for your ill deeds.

That's not a "sound mind in Christ", that's basic/actual fucking morality. You're the one who needs an invisible, all-powerful sky fairy to tell you it's wrong before you'll decide not to do it - and even then you still lie all the fucking time, so, so much for actually having that sound mind.

Yes, you're instead deceived by the unscientific fairytale of flawed interpretations of a bronze-age book, and a slightly different impossibility that one thing created everything.

Of course you don't. I mean a person with actual morals would feel pretty guilty about having to lie about everything to get anyone to believe their fairy tale, and then deciding all those new converts were "never really converted" if they decide it's not for them or they don't follow it exactly how you're deciding they should. But all the money you scam out of the more mindless converts sure does makes that feeling go away, doesn't it?
