Children are fully conscious, sentient beings that are self-aware, have feelings, and can feel pain. An embryo or fetus is none of these and is in no way the equal of a child.

Redirecting an argument to slip in your talking points is not an acceptable tactic in a formal debate. A proper response would be, "We were talking about the Midianites, not your personal opinions about fertilized human eggs."

The Midianites (if they actually existed) all had functioning nervous system, sense of self, experiences and memories. Embryos have nothing of that, and are less alive than people in vegetative stage, about as alive as brain-dead people.
Most women have had at least one miscarriage (many so early that they took it for a normal menstruation), and most fertilized eggs never manage to implant into the very protecting barrier in the womb. If God created humans, he also created the human reproductive system, and is not only killing millions, but billions and billions of "children".

Even if abortion was murder, that still leaves the genocide/enslavement issue, someone else doing something worse doesn't make you innocent. there could be two villians in one story you know.
