I dont know alot of this subject but I had some neighbors that moved in a couple of years back, they seemed nice, but after a small get together, we found out they was Pagan. We told then we are Christian. Well, they didnt come to get togethers much after that. Im sure it was a spiritual thing. I read on them & its basically witchcraft it sounded like. Well they moved a few months later.

necroforest: Not necessarily. I think it's entirely unlikely that they moved merely because some Christians moved in next door.
As for missing the "get togethers," I'm guessing kcaskew more than "told them we are Christian." Although there could easily be no animosity between them, and they simply be busy people. I haven't had a "get together" with my neighbors, uh, ever.
And the harassment-for-Jesus was edited out why?
Or are you implying that you actually co-existed with someone different than you without spewing bile and trying to make them conform to your fucked up ways?
Yeah. I have my doubts.
Pagan Neighbor #1: "Dammit those whackjob Fundies are having a pray-in again."
Pagan Neighbor #2: "Yeah, and I'm sick of all those fucking Chick Tracts under my windshield wiper every morning. Let's get the fuck out of here."
I'd be sympathetic if it wasn't on RR. I suspect the "told then (???) we are Christian" was more like "Be gone you vile spawn of Satan, we believe in the return of our Lord Jesus, and you are going to fry in Hell forever and ever... in Jebus' name. In JEBUS' name"
Or something along those lines... :p
Given this is Rapture Ready I suspect that "Told them we were Christian" means "Stood outside their home for days with a megaphone yelling for them to repent or they'll burn in hell for their heathen ways until someone called the cops. Then we started leaving chick tracts in their mail box until they took out the restraining order."
Does anyone else think this sounds about right, or am I being unfair here?
"we found out they was Pagan.”
Let me guess, you asked what church they attended and they tried not to offend, but you kept digging.
“We told then we are Christian.”
Yeah, that’s kinda the default in America. Any house you buy you’re probably going to have Christain neighbors. Weirdly, I’ve been at this address for 25 year and none of my neighbors know I’m atheist. Just doesn’t come up.
“Well, they didnt come to get togethers much after that.”
I’d dearly love to see the transcript of ‘we told them we are Christain,’ then. I’m SURE, absolutely CERTAIN you did NOTHING to drive them away. And I’m sure you did not spend a significant amount of time trying to convert them. There’s NO WAY they felt like the next get-together would be an ambush.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
