Right, this is a thing, sorry it's been a really nice day and I've been enjoying the hell out of it.

Did a good bit of work yesterday, fixed one of the issues I'd been having and should be able to get to work on the comments page next time I have time free. After that I'm going to get the base of the search page together, if you've been following I mentioned I wasn't able to test the improved search functionality because of my local SQL server version, well, once I have it to a testable point I'm going to be setting up a FSTDT test site where people can take a look at what I'm doing while I actually test the improved search on a system that can do it.

If nothing goes wrong I want to have that up by the end of the month, it'll just be display and it won't be the live data, but it's better than the nothing I have out there now.

I agree the 4872 is not even fundie but laudable, that 4488 is not silly.

Maybe the submitters should be expected to provide more context to their quotes, so that we may know what it was about if the source goes down:

I don't post in the comments a lot, so you won't know me, but I do submit a lot of quotes from a variety of sources.

Probably my richest source of quotes is the veritable fountain of crazy that is Anna Diehl, and I've noticed that in the past couple of months (ever since Anna won FOTY, in fact), quotes from her have been accepted at an extremely low rate, even though I've been submitting a lot of them. I understand that you can't post all submissions on the main site, but most of the quotes I've submitted from other sources have made the cut, so I have to conclude that you're deliberately boycotting Anna quotes. Is there a particular reason for that?

I ask because there are some real gems I've submitted these past few months that I've been disappointed to see haven't made the cut, and if you've decided to take a hiatus from accepting Anna quotes I might as well take a hiatus from submitting them.

Anyway, keep up the good work!

After the FOTY awards someone made the point that she may be legitimately deranged, and it's a tad unsettling to me. That said, the nutbar is strong with that one and some of the things get through anyway.

At this point, I think I'm over it after reading these in the last few months, but I will make a couple of requests. If at all possible, make the submissions from her a bit shorter. I know some of them the entire thing is the point, but some are just hard to read. Also, fewer. I get annoyed noises from commenters when I post more than five in a row of something.

That all said, the submissions aren't particularly bad, just seeing them so much have made them a tad mundane and I got a tad trigger happy with the delete button. I also realized I could file most of the people quoted under deranged if I tried, so I'm going to lighten up on them starting tomorrow.

Release is really dependent on when I can find time to work on it, and what damned problems crop up as I work on it.

I've got a fun one I'm debating on how to handle now. I can let people access the entire list of all quotes, and so long as no tags are selected I can easily go from one page to the next of a full listing of the site. Soon as I select a tag anything more than 50 pages in becomes a problem. So once I have a real test environment I'm going to be seeing exactly how a real server performs rather than my hinked together test and maybe I'll have to clamp down on total set sizes people can access to prevent choking, maybe I'll have to pre-calculate every damn thing like I've been considering, or maybe it'll run fine. I honestly don't know at the moment, and things like this have been cropping up with annoying regularity.

That said, even if this is still a problem for me I intend to have the basics out by the... well I say end of month, I mean the 2nd of next month. That way I can start testing this paging and search on a real server and see if I've got any more problems. If I'm honest none of this should take that long, I just don't have that much time to dedicate to development and getting back on track each weekend takes a while.

I may well take some time off just to be able to really concentrate on working and getting it largely over with. But haven't decided if or when yet.
