As an atheist, I don’t believe in gods. I don’t believe morals come from god. I don’t believe religious doctrines come from god. Men wrote them. Some are good. Some aren’t. It’s not even a violation of my atheism to accept any of them.

A perfect god would not command a knee-high parapet on the edges of every roof. On my house, it would collect the snow and eventually collapse the roof. Obviously, the author had a limited point of view and never imagined living anywhere but a desert.
