In a couple of years, people will be voting— who weren’t even born in 2001. It’s just some more old video, like the rest of the boring stuff on the History Channel.
They have no personal outrage, no personal drive for revenge. We failed. They have their own causes, and no particular desire to shoulder the ones we flubbed.

This is just how the passage of time works. It isn't normal or healthy for a society to be obsessed with an act of violence perpetrated in the distant past (by people most of whom are dead even now in 2017). It's one thing to remember the victims and the dangers of extremism, but continuing to make important foreign policy decisions out of impulsive anger over an event that a significant number of voters either can't or can barely remember rather than accepting that younger people are going to be more shaped politically by problems that actually affect them is a gateway to the sort of extremism that terrorism and genocide result from.
Flubbed? The first four years in Iraq killed a million people. You got an eye for an eye and a whole lot more than that - and from the wrong fucking country.
You eventually got bin Laden. And the dead - all the dead, and not merely the 3000 people AQ killed to start precisely this kind of war - are still dead.
It is enough.
I'll be blunt: 3000 is a nosebleed compared to what wartime atrocities cost per day.
The way you milk the 9/11 victims for political points is disgusting. The illusion you actually give a damn about any of them is wearing real thin.
You will never find someone who despises extremist Islam more than I, but I simply can't bring myself to lump all of its adherents in that category. I think Islam is stupid, but I consider all religions to be Mind Viruses. Hating all Muslims is nothing but added stress & baggage that no one needs & accomplishes nothing. As time goes on, 9/11 will become just like 12/07- a distant day in history. And do not try to claim that we "failed". Bin Laden is dead & AQ is largely splintered. Stop crying that the youth of America are not the frightened bigots that you are.
Lots of people voted for the first time on 8th June.
It's why Canterbury - Conservative since 1841 - became a Labour seat.
That - and other places - is why the PM then is now Theresa May Not Survive to 2022: or even the Tory Party Conference: in 2017 .
And as the effects are starting to hit people financially, there may be increasing calls for a second referendum on Europe.
People born way before 2001 will want to exert their personal outrage & exert their drive for revenge on Nige FaRAGE. No doubt so many in London would do the same too; so many voted Remain there.

They certainly had no problem voting for who is now "GQ" magazine's Politician of the Year, as Mayor of that capital city, Sadiq Khan: a Muslim .
Especially after 7/7.
So what does that say about your 'causes': except that, like you: they FAILed. Good.
The men responsible for 9/11 are dead, we killed the mastermind. We won.
Alas, we did not. The point of the 9/11 attacks was to turn us into a nation of people who freak out at the slightest indication of a potential threat. The attacks intended to terrorize us.
Our actions of the past 16 years make it clear that we are scared of our own shadows.
They won.

They have no personal outrage, no personal drive for revenge.
They are living through the Trump disaster. That should outrage them plenty.
Actually, them not having a desire for revenge means we did not fail, but made it so their lives aren't affected by the event that occurred as strongly as ours are. There have been no events like it in the US since. That's a good thing, I thought
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
