"Jews" didn't even come into existence till about 600 BC.
Most of the Old Testament was already written, and the New Testament speaks of pre-Talmudic Jew factions as the primary mortal adversaries. Mostly their hypocrisy and guile were condemned. Christians fashioned themselves as humble, honest people.
