I was introduced recently to a women by another women who said "this is my wife" I was taken back and even made distraught by the implication that the word wife could be stolen from me so easily. Yes I said stolen! Wife who's gender is female..is what I became when I married my husband who is the gender male and together under God we become husband and wife. We as the true wife should stand against this mishandling and changing of who a wife is. We must not let them steal our WIFE status. There is only one way to become a wife and that is to marry a husband. Now I believe husband is also being stolen as well. Sometime a women can be called a husband and a man can called a wife. This should not be so and we need to protect these names that are given to us by GOD almighty.

A woman is never called a husband. A man is never called a wife.
Some day I will marry a husband and be his husband. It's not a difficult concept.
Fundamentalist Christianity does not hold any rightful claim to dominance over the terms husband, wife, or marriage. People of other faiths, or people without faiths, can all get married and call themselves husband and wife despite your god not being involved in their union and you don't cry fowl about that nearly as much.
Look, if gendered nouns are too difficult for you, you can always stick to 'spouse'. There, fixed your problem!
Words and terms/expressions are constantly changing meaning. Get over it!
Wife is a word coming to us today through old English, and through that back to a Germanic origin. In modern German it is 'Weib' (pronounced 'vibe'), so the two words are cognates. However, although they may once have had the same meaning, in modern German 'Weib' means what in American English would be called 'a broad'. So insist all you like. It won't change the reality that the meaning of words does change.
@ mina
Neat! But, linguistically, if we follow the pattern of 'mouse', the plural of 'spouse' is 'Spice'. But we should al have some spice in our lives. LOL
The word wife is not given to you by god, but the Germanic language group.
Also, the only times 'wife' gets stolen is by this guy:

(and it's spelled 'waifu' FYI.)
So if you're not a wife anymore, - it's been stolen from you, remember -, what are you ?
Besides a whiny bitch that is.
look, "to steal" has a very clear definition. if you have not actually LOST something which you previously lawfully had, you have not been stolen from. this is, for example, why downloading music is not "theft", since nobody is deprived by losing anything just because another digital copy is made.
(it isn't "piracy", either, because it doesn't hijack any ships on the high seas. arr. it's just copyright infringement, that's all.)
having a social status actually stolen from you would logically have to involve some quite convoluted circumstances. at a very minimum, you would have to no longer enjoy that social status consequent to the "theft". hence, if you're still married --- and still female, hence still somebody's wife --- no such theft can have occurred. are you?
"if we follow the pattern of 'mouse', the plural of 'spouse' is 'Spice'"
Then...what were the Spice Girls?
Oh cry moar. The world is changing, get used to it!
Gay people getting the right to get married doesn't mean that heterosexual marriages are null and void.
So gob gave the word "wife" to married straight women only? Ah, no.
From Wiki:
"The word is of Germanic origin, from Proto-Germanic *wibam, "woman". In Middle English it had the form wif, and in Old English wif, "woman or wife". It is related to Modern German Weib (woman, female), and may derive ultimately from the Indo-European root ghwibh- "shame; pudenda" (cf. Tocharian B kwipe and Tocharian A kip, each meaning "female pudenda", with clear sexual overtones). The original meaning of the phrase "wife" as simply "woman", unconnected with marriage or a husband/wife, is preserved in words such as "midwife" and "fishwife".
Go away now, and LEARN TO FUCKING READ!

It's the world's smallest violin playing just for the wives.
"Sometime a women can be called a husband and a man can called a wife."
Wait. Wut. This person needs to stop huffing rubber cement or something, they're both paranoid and deluded.
Wife who's gender is female
Wives are always female.
husband who is the gender male
Husbands are always male.
So, in other words, this had absolutely no effect on your marriage whatsoever.
Sometime a women can be called a husband and a man can called a wife.
Is that what happened? No. Both of the women were wives. So why the hell would that suddenly change?
the word wife could be stolen from me so easily
You don't fucking personally own the word. It belongs to society. Despite what you may think, God did not invent the English language.

"The original meaning of the phrase "wife" as simply "woman", unconnected with marriage or a husband/wife"
Oh my FSM, they changed the definition of a word! All traditions are now null and void and cats will sleep with dogs!
"Wife" means "woman," just as the word for "woman" also means "wife" in many languages - femme, vrouw, Frau, mujer, donna, grua, mulher, zena etc. You are still a wife, so nobody's stolen anything from you.
"This should not be so and we need to protect these names that are given to us by GOD almighty."
wife - from the proto-Germanic "*wiba" (woman, wife) - c. 1700-500 BC before proto-Germanic evolved into different language families.
husband - from Old-Norse "húsbóndi" (master of house) - c. 900-1300 AC, at that time still pagan.
How different we feel. I get happy when I hear people FINALLY being able to marry, after years, decades in some cases, of not being allowed to celebrate their love for each other. I happily share the word "wife" with lesbians, transgenders and anyone else who feels it appropriate.
A wife is a woman who's married. No changing of anything is needed.
"a women"? Learn to English.
Married woman = Wife...
Married man = Husband...
Sometime a women can be called a husband and a man can called a wife.
Only possible if you're one of those who insists that a FtM is a woman, of that a MtF is a man... in which case you're a tw@t.

This is a plausible rant by a racist from before the civil rights act.
>> the word wife could be stolen from me so easily. Yes I said stolen! <<
I once had a landlord who was a real estate salesman. "Realtor", or, in his case, a real turd.
He wanted to sue just about everybody in the world because Realtor was his word. Stolen from him. He invented it and nobody else should be allowed to use it, harrumph!
these names that are given to us by GOD almighty.
Or Webster.

Words and terms/expressions are constantly changing meaning. Get over it!
Is there anybody, Anybody more intent on changing word definitions than fundies?
“ made distraught by the implication that the word wife could be stolen from me so easily.”
So, contact Mattel, and order the ‘Wedding Day Barbie.’ Then show us on the doll how “This Is My Gay Wife Barbie” stole the term ‘wife’ from her.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
