Like I said, if I didn't believe in my religion then there's no question I would accept the theory of evolution, it has an astronomical amount of evidence. Nonetheless, for me, I am more convinced that my religion is true than the evidences that back up evolution ergo I'm a Creationist.

You admit the evolution theory is backed by "an astronomical amount of evidence" but hold to creationnism because it is written in a book.
It's pure solipism born from religious fanatism, not unlike lyssenkoism, consisting to think your personnal ideology trumps facts.
Does anyone remember what Dawkins said about that young earth geologist? "No point in arguing with a mind like that... a disgrace to the human species." Same deal here; "I believe, even though I have no reason to believe whatsoever. I just do." Dawkins is right. It's enough to make your head explode.
Wow. I've been on atheist forums for a while and know that idealogue08 tends to ignore evidence, but here he at least admits to it. The level of compartmentalization in his brain is amazing. He knows that he's ignoring the mountain of evidence for evolution in favor of a religion and has no problem with it.
BTW, he is not a poe.
I’d have called this a Poe, but I’ve met people who personally believe in creationism yet admit that evolution has a great amount of scientific validity. This isn’t a stretch.
The people I’m referring to aren’t some backwater hicks or inner city thugs either, mind you. They’re well educated and very intelligent. Most are from the Deep South, as one might expect, but I’ve met some as far north as Connecticut. It’s shocking what kind of stranglehold religion can have on a mind.
Ah, yes, the Fundie favorite. The "religion makes me feel good, therefore I will ignore the facts" agrument. Good thinking, idiotlogue.
You know, this is no different that the thought processes behind the religious snake handlers. "The evidence says these snakes are venomous and can kill me, but I believe a book written 2,000 years ago that says I can play with these snakes and not be in any danger." This guys rejection of ToE may not be as deadly as the snake handlers' beliefs, but the thought processes behind what they believe is the same.
I remember that I had problems convincing my Marine Biology teacher in high school that evolution and Christianity could be miscible (I was investigating Baha'i at the time, and he was on the Christian side; at least he did explain the evolutionary hypotheses about whales et al., even if he did preface with his belief in evolution being erroneous). The main thing was the idea that Death didn't exist until AFTER Adam and Eve partook of the Tree of Moral Knowledge. Which would make the winnowing portions of natural selection impossible.
I'm wondering if it might be a similar situation here. For all the evidence Ideologue08 sees for evolution, they still can't reconcile it and the belief that humans predate death. And the latter takes priority with them.
Well, you have to admit, that's honest, bat-shit crazy, but honest.
@Skyknight : "The main thing was the idea that Death didn't exist until AFTER Adam and Eve partook of the Tree of Moral Knowledge."
That was claimed by Paul (Romans 5:12). But Genesis, on which Paul based his opinion, never says anything of the sort. In fact, the Tree of Life was said to grant immortality (Genesis 3:22), so it would have served no purpose if there wasn't any death.
This isn't the only example of Paul making stuff up that wasn't actually in the OT.
At least he's honest award.
This isn't a new phenomenon. Henry Morris in one of his early creationist books (early 60s I think) said something like no physical facts are allowed to contradict the clear statements or neccesary inferences of scripture.

"@Skyknight : "The main thing was the idea that Death didn't exist until AFTER Adam and Eve partook of the Tree of Moral Knowledge."
And where, pray, does it say precisely in Genesis where God says 'Thou shalt surely die - But only after , say, 70-100 or so years? '
No. It only says 'Thou shalt surely die', therefore meaning literally that - at the point of what it was in the fruit of the 'Tree of Knowledge' touching tongue/oral membranes, and at least the neurotransmitter speed of the most lethal neorotoxin known - therefore at that point all life processes, even brain functions & thus life itself would cease.
Therefore, God lied to Adam & Eve, and Lucifer/Satan/The Devil/Old Nick/'Scratch'/Louis Cyphre/(*insert name of your choice here *) is actually the good guy in all of this. Ergo, the 'mystery' of the Bible explained. Q.E. and D.
And now you know fundies, why the Church of England openly admit that most of the Bible - including Genesis - is purely fable and metaphor; as in not to be taken literally.
Nonetheless, for me, I am more convinced that my religion is true
I just received a message from God. He said he is now going to destroy all of humanity.
He read the post by ideologue08 and has decided that enough is enough.
So long cruel world.
Like I said, if I didn't believe in my religion then there's no question I would accept the theory of evolution...
Good gravy! A lot of folks are religious and except evolution, you fundie dingleberry!
This is a fundamentalist viewpoint, but it's not an extremist viewpoint or a dysfunctional one. It sounds more like they disagree with abiogenesis or 'macro-evolution' or whatever than natural selection, and I can respect non-naturalistic beliefs even if they sound weird because there are philosophical arguments for them.
The whole idea behind Poe posters is that no matter how intentionally outrageous someone's post is, there's someone somewhere who believes the exact same thing who is deadly serious about the whole thing.
Without an indicator of some sort, it's impossible to tell. That's the point.
I've had people in reality tell me this, almost word-for-word who weren't joking. Glenn Morton had this one shining moment of clarity about them.
Uhm, no. Just because you believe in a religion does not make you a creationist. You can choose to completely dismiss the creationist hoax and cherry pick what you want to believe. What, you thought christians never pick which rules from the bible they will follow and what they accept as truth?
Confused?
