[Replying to 'you can't cure homosexuality'] This is a very short sighted statement. Pneumonia was a death sentence before 1940 when Penicillin came along. Maybe 20 years from now they'll have Homocillan; how do you know there's no way to eliminate homosexuality?

Here's one for speculation: the short story "The Fortress" by science fiction writer Greg Egan.
Backstory has it that sexual characteristics and sexual orientation develop at different times during fetal development, and depends on a range of biochemical markers carried across the placental barrier.
Now let's say a pharmaceutical company develops a chemical "cap" that can mediate what's carried across the placenta, to prevent things like viruses, alcohol, and other nasties getting into the fetus's bloodstream. Oh, and it just _happens_ to be possible to use it to tune the timing those markers mentioned in the previous paragraph.
You very well know that if it is possible to undo homosexuality, if it is purely biological, then it is possible to induce it in a heterosexual.
After all, atom bomb and fission reactors.
Same knowledge, different applications.
Homosexuality is only a death sentence in bigoted areas, where "straight" guys are so insecure about their sexuality that they attack anything that threatens it in even the tiniest way.
You can't cure tallness either.
So you would take scientists and grants away from researching cancer, heart disease, diabetes and other life threatening conditions and use them to try and cure homosexuality? You've got some really skewed priorities there.
Or perhaps you were thinking of "Christian scientists" working with donations from churches, the way creationists do. Well, I wouldn't mind that so much. It would keep the "Christian scientists" away from promoting creationism, and they would most likely produce as many positive results as said creationists.
Why stop there? Why not find a way to eliminate dark hair, or people from growing under a certain height, or people from developing a certain skin-color, or body type, or handedness.
Since homosexuality is a complex biological process linked to our actual genes (like nearly every other trait expressed in a human being) to find a way to 'cure' it is basically eugenics and genetic engineering to make the 'perfect' human being. But who gets to determine what is 'perfect' and what isn't? Is dark hair perfect, or is blonde? Ask the Nazis and see how well that actually works.
Homosexuality is not a disease, so it cannot be "cured".
Speaking of diseases, I wish stupidity was a disease, since then we could develop a cure.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
