We are not evolving, in fact we are de-volving - getting less and less perfect, living shorter lives.

See, "devolution" is like unscrambling an egg -- it's just not possible. Now it's possible for an existing atavism to crop up here and there (hox mutations are particularly good at making things like that happen), but it's not "devolution", just glitching in the current genetic code.
There's no such thing. Evolution is a change in allele (an allele is a gene that codes for a specific trait like blue eyes or production of the enzyme that prevents stinky pee when you eat asparagus) frequency over time, not a upward movement on some imaginary scale of perfection or toward some perceived apex.
An increase in genes coding for a longer lifespan is evolution, but so is a decrease in the frequency of those genes. It's just the frequency of the genes, not a value judgement about the change.
Also, your assumption about shorter human life spans is incorrect. Humans are living longer, growing significantly taller and are healthier by most measures than even a generation or two ago. The main explanations appear to be more reliable access to food and better medical care.
Saying "in fact" doesn't mean anything.
We are not devolving.
We are not getting less perfect, we are advancing greatly over past civilizations.
And we are living decades longer then we did when my grandparents were alive.
Gimme an 'F', gimme an 'A', gimme an 'I', gimme an 'L'!
What's that spell?
Fail!
What's that spell?
FAIL!
Even if we were becoming 'less perfect' (when were we perfect in the first place?), that'd not disprove evolution. It says nothing about a change having to be positive, it only says change is in response to environment.
living shorter lives
Yes because, 100 years ago, it was so common for people to live past the age of 50! Right. Try again, dear.
We're living LONGER lives, thanks to technology, modern living, and MEDICAL SCIENCE.
True. Not evolution, though.
Well, evolution doesn't make creatures live longer--as John pointed out, once you're past having babies, that's it. And lives are getting very much longer in a very short number of years, so that's an outright lie.
Unless you think the lifespans in the Old Testament were true, but that just means you're ignorant, not a liar.
What this person might be referring to is that the latest generation is likely to be the first one to live a shorter life than its parents. Even if this turns out to be true it's got nothing to do with evolution - it's about eating too many burgers, spending all day sat down and getting obese. God's not involved in any way.
“We are not evolving, in fact we are de-volving”
So, as a species, you believe we are changing over time… That’s evolution.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
