[In reference to a scene from Monty Python's Life of Brian]

these homosexual brits hate jesus and love satan. how dare they laugh at his execution and tortured beautiful life. if it wasnt for jesus we would all be heathens living in huts made? of sheep dung.

Why do they never watch or comprehend what they are attacking?

Jesus is mentioned several times in Life Of Brian. He even has a very brief cameo.

Brian was not Jesus. He was just some ordinary guy who people mistakenly started following due to some silly coincidences. It is made very clear that he is supposed to be one of many "false prophets" around at the time.

Brian was an unwilling false prophet. Is was a goof on fanatics, like yourself, who just irrationally follow "saviors" and rationalize their blind devotion, even when faced with contrary evidence.

Granted, it is a subtle attack on blind devotion to any religious figure, but Jesus was treated pretty reverently considering...
If I was a believer, I wouldn't be offended. It is funny!

Ah, the smell of bigotry in the morning. Don't you just love it?

But then the fundies need some pejorative handle to tar those beyond the pale as a means of distinguishing between an "us" and a "them". Given what some of them (e.g., Randall Terry) have said about what they'd like to do to gay people (do a Google search on "Dominionism" and be very afraid) it makes sense that when it's time to widen the net and look for others beyond the pale to subject to the same treatment, labelling all opposition as 'gay' is a nice, easy, lazy solution to the problem of justifying the horrors that quite a few of the fundies wish to unleash upon us all. After all, if we're all 'gay' because we happen to have a sense of humour, then suddenly, in Fundie World, rounding us all up for a spot of mass murder, and not just the actual gay people, becomes legitimate ... I can see where this guy is heading ...

We have a word in Britain for people like this. "Tosser".

The aqueduct?

Oh. Yeah, yeah. They did give us that. Uh, that's true. Yeah.

And the sanitation

Yeah. All right. I'll grant you the aqueduct and the sanitation are two things that the Romans have done.

And the roads.

Well, yeah. Obviously the roads. I mean, the roads go without saying, don't they? But apart from the sanitation, the aqueduct, and the roads--

Irrigation.

Medicine.

Education.

Yeah, yeah. All right. Fair enough.

And the wine.

Yeah. Yeah, that's something we'd really miss, Reg, if the Romans left. Huh.

Public Baths.

And it's safe to walk in the streets at night now, Reg.

Yeah, they certainly know how to keep order. Let's face it. They're the only ones who could in a place like this.

All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Only one was gay. And they weren’t all Brits.
and if they hate Jesus, why did Jesus himself come off so well in the movie? The two times we see Jesus, he’s respectfully portrayed. If they hated him, he’d have come out diffferent, i’d think.

Dare? Have you SEEN Monty Python? They mock everyone. EVERYTHING. They find humor in a situation and present it.
And it’s not JESUS that they’re mocking, not at ANY POINT IN THE MOVIE.

The Romans had a pretty high standard of engineering before they nailed Jesus up, i’d say. So we’d at LEAST be at that level of living standard.
