All christians get in America is harrassement and personal humiliation.
Some of it is caused by our own actions and probably deserved.
If we can't endure even this much for His sake, how will we stand in the day of real persecution? Now is the time to answer that question...not when it is too late.

Make up your mind, are you persecuted or not?, and worse off, are you guilty of what you do or not?, because I nominate you to non-contradiction award.
Well, you certainly get humiliation here, but this isn't America and we're only humiliating the more un-Christian amongst you.
And certainly, if you can't endure not being persecuted, how will you react when you really are persecuted for real?

There you go.
Every time someone like Fred Phelps, Jack Chick, or Ken Ham open their mouths they damage the reputation of Christianity. If you don't like it, then do what you can to get the extremists kicked out of the fellowship.
Actually, i think what he means by the first sentence is that christians in other parts of the world are sometimes persecuted, but in America they get nothing worse than being mocked or getting minor harassment.
Look at the whole thread for context.
If I've understood him correctly, the first 2 sentences make sense, and the last 2 are the usual 'end-times' talk.
I don't think this is very fundie -- he seems to be responding to the question of whether American Xtians are persecuted by saying "no, only harrassed and humiliated." Which is a step more severe than reality (at least!), but a step closer to sane than what we usually hear.
Heh, Christians enjoy an almost exhalted, elite status in the USA now. Hell, it has become downright fashionable to profess Christianity now. The President talks about receiving messages from God and for the first time in history, churches are being allowed to dip into the Federal social services budget.
You are not being persecuted because you are not permitted to force others to be just like you.

No, most Christians go about their own business; if anything, they are probably more accepted than atheists or member of other faiths.
The ones who get harrassement and personal humiliation are the ones who are (a) sure their beliefs are the only ones that are right, (b) try to get those beliefs pushed onto the rest of us in schools and under the law, and (c) have a hypocritical and kindergarten understanding of their own faith.

I'm willing to overlook the first line and say this is perhaps one of the most insightful things I've seen here.
It started out pretty fundie, but you know what? She's right, at least insofar as they wouldn't know real persecution if it jumped upp and bit them in the ass...and the fact that the ridicule most of them incur, they bring upon themselves.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
