[...if something isn't in the bible, does that make it untrue?]
Of course not. There are many things the Bible makes no mention of that are true. You will search the Bible in vain to find what the square root of 7 is, but 7 has a square root.
If, however, something contradicts the Bible then it is not true.

Could it be... post of the week, month, or year?
it hurts me to think about this statement.
And again the same question, if the Bible can't account for everything, be consequent and asume that the contradictions can be due to the ignorance, in science at least, of the writers, not in the falsity of the one who makes statements.
7 has a square root? Who'd have thunk it?
Now, quick, think of a number that doesn't have a square root.
So, using the same math reference, what is the value of Pi (to two decimal places)?
According to the Bible, it's 3.00.
According to reality, it's 3.14.
Is reality wrong, then?

Yeah. Like if I say Judas hanged himself, that contradicts Acts 1:18, which says he fell headlong and his bowels gushed out. So that's clearly not true. And if I say Judas fell headlong and his bowels gushed out, that contradicts Matthew 27:5, which says he hanged himself. So that's clearly not true either.

No, no, no. You're thinking of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, not the Bible.

Well, negative numbers don't have any square root in the Real Number domain.
But let's not tell this Fundie about imaginary numbers. He'd probably think they were the work of Satan.

Yeah, I don't like that one being thrown around. In terms of primitive measurements, figuring out a constant of 3 for a circle (However the verse went. I can't be bothered to hunt that one down.) is pretty reasonable. That said, for anyone to cite pi = 3 nowadays for biblical reasons, they deserve a slap on the ear.
Sorry, I'm a bit touchy about people messing with math. :p
"If, however, something contradicts the Bible then it is not true."
Including the Bible itself?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
