Oscar seems to be thinking of the Middle Eastern idea that showing the soles of one's feet to someone is disrespectful, and shoes in general are dirty in a symbolic sense. I don't know if this is exclusively Arabic, but none of the Jewish kids I went to school with seemed to have any hang-up about feet or shoes.
Anyway, how could someone on a phone see your feet?

I have heard that in middle east exposing the soles of you feet/boots is bad manners. One UN officer said that a negotiation came to an end because of that and he didn't even realize what he had done to offend those people.
Then again I have no idea what that has to do with the picture. Obama is on telephone, its not like Netanyahu can see him.
