"What amazes me is that no one seems to be addressing the effect on the children. It's a glaring ommission."
It's not an omission if there's nothing to say about it. Having same-sex parents has no more harmful effects on children than having "traditional" parents. In fact, some studies even indicate that same-sex couples do a BETTER job.
"The lifestyle is self-perpetuating as it can't procreate--oh, but it's oh so 'normal'. Indeed."
How can something be self-perpetuating if it can't procreate? I think you've got it backwards.
Oh, and homosexuals CAN procreate. First of all, there are homosexuals who have actually married, had sex with, and had children with, people of the opposite sex, just to hide their true sexuality from bigots like you. And then, for people who have accepted who they are, there's artificial insemination. Duh.
"Sally may even be questioned on where she got these views/beliefs."
I really doubt that any student would be asked by their teacher what their beliefs were on the topic. Of course, "Sally" would be free to voice her beliefs herself, and ask questions about the topic, as long as she didn't say anything in a hateful/discriminatory way. She might be asked by her classmates what her beliefs are, and if she turned out to be homophobic then she might possibly be shunned by her more open-minded classmates.
And when you say that she "will be bombarded with text books showing Johnny's two mommies or daddies. She will be taught that this is 'normal', acceptable, and even encouraged as we 'must all explore our sexuality'"...what class do you suppose this will be happening in? The only classes I ever took where sexuality was mentioned was "Introduction to Anthropology, Psychology, and Sociology", and "Families and Individuals in a Diverse Society"; both of those classes were elective and weren't available until grade 11 or 12; and by that age, I would hope most people will already have an opinion regarding homosexuality and same-sex couples. And in those classes I took, homosexuality wasn't actually portrayed as a "positive" thing, it was portrayed neutrally.
"This all will happen. The text books have already been printed, just waiting in the wings. This is not a tin foil meme, someone very close to me was a public elementry school librarian and retired early so they did not have to witness or be a part of what was coming down the pike for our dear innocent children."
Well then, he/she was an asshat and shouldn't have been a librarian anyway. I would love to see her reaction at the books we have in our high school library.
"She read the textbooks. They're here."
And...?
"So now we have these poor children who will not only be confused, but torn in their loyalties."
If those children are able to think for themselves (which I hope they will be able to, but I have a nagging suspicion that they won't), then they will be able to decide for themselves what they believe, based on reason, logic, and morality. Only the ones who are still taught to believe that homosexuality is wrong will be confused so it'll be your fault, not ours.
"What child has not looked up to and admired their kindergarten, 1st - 3rd grade teachers?"
I didn't. Well, maybe grade 1, but I was at an alternative school. I didn't hate my grade 2 - 3 teachers, but I didn't look up to them or admire them.
"And what if the teachers encourage the children to report on their family's views regarding this and other topics."
Like I said, this would probably not happen, and if it did, I would support "Sally's" right not to answer the question. It's not the teacher's place to be asking that. No teacher has ever asked me how I feel about black people or Jewish people, and if they did I would feel very affronted; and I would feel the same way if a teacher asked me how I felt about homosexuality.
"One judge overthrows the will of 7,000,000 people? Yeah right. Where I come from, that's called living in a totalitarian state, communist state, etc., etc., whatever label anyone wants to put on it. Basically, anti-freedom."
Actually, that's called civil rights, asshole. When the majority gets to decide the minority's rights, that's called "Tyranny of the Majority" and THAT'S anti-freedom. THAT'S totalitarian. What you're saying is basically, "Wahhh! I don't get to decide other people's rights!! I'm being PERSECUTED!!!" Asshole.
"My only remaining comment is to beg the Lord to please get us out of here so that His justice and will may be done."
Well then, by all means, get out of here. In fact, that is the only way that justice will be done, is if people like you get the hell out. It's ironic how much you just hit the nail on the head there.
Oh yeah, and "irregardless" isn't a word, dumbfuck.
