Wow, comments just keep getting dumber. You 3 knuckleheads are amazing.
"The thing is, what I am *doing* is refusing to tolerate intolerance. *Your* intolerance."
This makes no sense, (also by your logic you would be a conservativephobe and therefore racist LOL) as I have said, tolerance has to be reciprocated. Do you agree or do you think one-sided tolerance can ever work and if so to what degree can you tolerate it?
When it comes to my issues with Islam, it's Islam that initiated the intolerance, not me. If Islam didn't have a supremacist doctrine of fighting unbelievers, didn't have a Sharia system that amounts to a totalitarian/theocratic system, didn't have millions of followers who take those teaching seriously and constantly try to subvert or destroy western countries' governments and destabilize our countries, I wouldn't care.
This entire comment shows that your morality is completely inverted. You will sit there and defend a violent totalitarian ideology, you won't condemn it, you won't formulate a rational foreign policy based on that reality, but you're going to condemn those that condemn the ideology. Makes no sense. You are brainwashed, you are deluded. There is something mentally wrong with you. Get it checked.
I wouldn't be surprised if during the Cold War you were one of those useful idiots defending Soviet communism and telling Americans that they need to be more tolerant and less "McCarthyist", all the while communists were killing millions of people and stealing their property, some of them their own citizens. And I take it that during the 30's you would have called Jews critical of Nazism "Naziphobic" right? And racist against Germans?
You're a fool. A poor deluded fool. I pity you.
"Also, nice propaganda site."
The link is merely a list of polls done by independent polling groups. Religion of peace simply reported on them. I doesn't matter that they have an agenda if they back it up with evidence.
"And Islam can be the moderate alternative to Christianity... It is 600 years younger than Christianity and is more "modern" in several places. Many of the things Islam gets berated for, are cultural habits rather than religious dogma."
Virtually everything it gets criticized for can be found in its core doctrine (Quran, hadiths or jurisprudence), no it's not "cultural".
"The things that God (supposedly) told Muhammad when Muhammad was young were quite progressive, from what I've heard. It's only when Muhammad gets older that God gets more conservative, funnily enough... "
Wow, finally we're getting somewhere. You do realize that the Medinan verses override the Meccan ones? So Islamic doctrine is based on the most recent teachings of Mohammed, not the oldest, which includes violent subjugation of unbelievers, see 9:29.
"
Pop quiz: What have Turkey, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kosovo and Senegal, all muslim majority countries, had that the U.S.A. hasn't ?
Answer: A female head of state. "
ROFL! Wow, if you think that's the sole standard of gender equality you clearly have no clue. If women could choose where to be born, they choose the USA in a heart beat, they wouldn't even consider Turkey which is the less crazy of those countries. Truth is it doesn't say anything. There were a few free blacks during pro-slavery USA, and they probably lived better lives than blacks in Africa, but it doesn't make slavery right or tolerable.
I'm also glad that you mentioned Turkey because Turkey would be a far worse country today without those "racists" and "Islamophobes" like Ataturk. Though he wasn't the only forward thinking individual back then, he was the one to abolish the caliphate. He also spoke the truth about Islam and said it should be kept away from politics. He implemented policies intended to westernize Turkish Muslims and basically make them less devout because he knew the more devout Muslims you have in a society, the less likely it is that you can create a modern western-style country. He even threw a Quran at someone for making a sexist remark, not something I'd recommend doing but LULZ, that took balls.
