I do not feel that abortion in ANY context or situation is the right choice...

As I'm fortunate enough never to have been subjected to the awful decision to abort a fetus, I don't think I have the right to judge others who have done that.
I think the option must be open to people, at least during the first 8-12 weeks, to decide whether or not to continue the pregnancy.
If there is no legal option, people will find illegal, and very dangerous means to get rid of the fetus.
If there is a real and true choice, I believe that more people will actually choose to keep the baby. If there is no stigma associated with being an unwed mother, then fewer will see abortion as the only way out of life-long ostracism.
In Sweden, the only difference between a wed mother and an unwed mother is that the latter must actively register the father of the child. If you are married, the husband is automatically assumed to be the father. Nobody cares, really, if people are married or not, when they have kids. Still, lots of people see the arriving of a child to be an excellent reason to get married. Lots of them wait till the baby is born and the woman has regained her figure, before marrying.

First lesson of ethics: be very careful about making blanket statements.
Because now that you have, I can cite extreme cases and invalidate your argument:
Lassa fever (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lassa_fever ) is fatal in ~10% of cases, except for pregnant women during their third trimester. Then the fatality rate is >80% for the mother and >90% for the fetus (the virus turns it into a viral bomb). The only effective treatment is immediate abortion and removal of the fetus.

In a more serious post, until you have a vagina and have to make this life altering decision then you have no right to control this matter. As a man myself I have opinions certainly but it's not my body so I don't have the right to make decisions for it. To paraphrase Jefferson "your rights end where the other man's nose begins".

...says JustAGuy , who will never conceive, gestate, carry for nine months and give birth himself.
If we men could do so, there would be abortion facilities in all DIY stores.
Confused?
