Sex brings with it a number of risks, however, modern medicine provides several options to prevent getting pregnant or having to carry a pregnancy to term.

Crip, did you just lapse into a coma during health classes? The man faces no risk whatsoever of getting pregnant (although he does share the risk of STDs.) Therefore the person bearing the risk of pregnancy gets to make the choice of carrying through that pregnancy.
You know, I'd almost go the opposite.
