[in a reddit thread discussing the constitutionality of 'under god' in the pledge]
I won't give your question the dignity of an answer. It doesn't deserve it. Questioning "under God" is a direct attack on Christianity.

If that is true, you have pathetically weak faith, if it must be reaffirmed by every man, woman and child chanting it all the time. Truly, truly sad.
It also doesn't address whether it's constitutional or not.
What's Christianity doing in the pledge of a secular nation?
By being there, you're degrading other faiths / lacks thereof.
Also, I'm expecting some fundies today to whine about George Carlin dying.

No....revoking Protestant tax-exempt status, outlawing all forms of Protestantism, and forbidding all Protestants from owning businesses or property would be a direct attack on Christianity. Questioning "under God" is a right given to us by the founding documents of the republic. It's also a duty of all true American patriots.
Welcome to Thomas Jefferson and James Madison's America.
F***er.

So you understand that this is an establishment clause issue, and that putting the phrase "under God" in the pledge violated the Constitution?
"God" of what?
Those old goatfuckers were too cowardly to name their god directly, and played coy with the generic term.
"God" could mean Brahman or the Great Spirit or Mescalito or Mithras or Shiva or Hanuman or Odin or YuHuWuHu of Juu.
Isn't inclusiveness wonderful?

Me too, I'm waiting to hear how he woke up in hell and we all better get our acts together and worship gawd.
Well it's a good thing that this country wasn't founded on Christianity then.
So, remind me why I should care?
The pledge was originally written by a baptist minister in 1892.
"Under god" was not included in the pledge until 1954.
Also, "god" can be any god. Not just yours.
I know that this quote is 16 years ago, but r/atheism has fallen so far from the tree that r/christianity has become better. I am unsure what exact year caused r/atheism to fall off like trump post apprentice, maybe when that one really dumb quote from the sub became omega-deluxe-famous, but still. Also, hi anon-e-moose.
Confused?
