Sex before marriage is definitely not good, and to all you immoral people who think it's okay, I'll just laugh when you're forty years old, have STDs, no friends, and ten kids who have the same father/mother but not the other same parent. Premarital sex destroys relationships and lives, and if you don't think so, you must a) not have much of a life to destroy or b) not have any great relationships.

I have sex before marriage, but only with the same person I've been with for five and a half years.
Marriage isn't the only route to monogamy, chump, and apart from that, it holds no special powers whatsoever to prevent STD's. And, in fact, actually marriage can be a way to lose friends just as much as not being married can.
I am 55 Years old and and have been married twice.. I have 5 wonderful kids and three terrific step kids...I have no stds, and beyond that I had premarital sex with all the women in My life... it didn't change the person I am. I take the word friendship seriously , so I have many I care about yet few Friends. So basically what I am saying is....YOU FAIL Miserably!
Marriage is the new wonder cure for fundies. It cures homosexuality (if married to the opposite sex), immunizes from STDs, prevents stress, hair loss and increases the chance on a long life. That's not all, it has social advantages. it prevents fighting, arguing, rebellious kids, loss of friends, increases overall life standard and prevents all suicides.
No wonder they want marriage for themselves. If all the heathens didn't get marriages they'd self destruct in no time.
Ok, ten kids with the same father or mother but not the same parent?, I thought that the evil use of contraconceptives was depopulating the planet(or that they died of STD or that STD's caused infertility). The "no friends" is a different matter altogether.
Sounds like a man who's never seen water trying to tell others how to swim. Wonderful excuse for being a 40 year old virgin, bleeder jack. Wonder what kind of relationships you've had if you believe your last two points? No, actually I don't, read my first sentence.
"and if you don't think so, you must a) not have much of a life to destroy or b) not have any great relationships."
Or C: You know the fucking meaning of responsibility and maturity. I can understand where such ideas would be foreign to a fundie like you.
75% of people have premarital sex by the time they're 20. 97% of those who ever had sex eventually had premarital sex. The median age for first sex is about 17 1/2. Among those who abstain until 18, over half make up for lost time within the next 3 years.
The vast majority of people have had premarital sex. They also have friends, no STDs and a lot less than 10 kids. Furthermore, there doesn't appear to be much difference between people today and those of 30 years ago.
Wow. So what if you marry someone with an STD? Surely you are then at risk to get it if the only time you have sex in through marriage.
Also, FSTDT never ceases to amaze me with the places fundie quotes are found. I mean, seriously, Serebii?
The only thing formal legal "marriage" is good for, is the automatic establishment of Power of Attorney and in some cases, tax breaks.
If Love is not enough to keep two people together on its own account, the marriage contract devolves to its punitive clauses.
I'm in favor of Common Law in this regard.
@Bananas
Obviously not, as he seems to think that it means the person would be saddled with a small army of rugrats as well.
And I love the typical black-or-white approach. You're either perfectly chaste, or a whore that's out humping lampposts. Never considering that there's those that just get laid once in a while.
Confused?
