Porn stars belittle all women. As long as men look at women as a sex object, we won't get the credibility we deserve.

I have to admit that while erotica itself isn't a bad thing in my opinion, I've heard a lot of horror stories about how the commercial porn industry treats its female actors. There's a constant push for more extreme, more painful, more degrading scenes. It would be a benefit to society, I think, if the industry was held to higher standards than that.
I guess that depends whether or not you have chosen a man with an addiction to porn. I also notice that you blame the (presumably female) "porn star", when if there is any blame to be placed, it should go to the men.
I respect porn stars just fine. It's been my experience that they tend to be both fairly intelligent and quite personable. It's people like you , who appoint yourselves stewards of others' lives without their consent or even against their will, that I look down my nose at.
and what pray tell is the alternative? porn isn't actually going to go away no matter what idiots think. if you ban it you empower organized crime and do you really think the mafia will treat their porn actors better than your above board sleaze merchant?
and why this particular focus on sexual objectification? jobs are ways of utilizing people that's why the people are paid for them, how is a woman fucking on camera for $900 a shoot more objectified than the woman operating a till for $9 an hour?
Sexual self determination is a fundimental human right. Just because you wouldn't watch porn, or take part in porn, doesn't give you the right to tell other consenting adults what they can or can't do with their own bodies.
Industrial porn can be degrading work. It isn't always, and doesn't have to be. Also, not all porn is "industrial".
So can a lot of non-sexual jobs. Like burger flipping. Mail sorting. Coal mining. Hell, even some desk jobs. What matters is not the job itself, but whether you're made to feel like a worthless peon who exists only to be abused and have money wrung out of them, and be given a pittance in return.
There are issues around porn, but they seem to be caused directly or indirectly by 1.) lack of sex education, and 2.) male sexual entitlement. Get rid of porn, and many of the problems caused by those two things will still exist. Get rid of those two things, and the problems caused by porn will go away.
Objectification is not a problem so long as people are not objectified outside of a sex scene where they're meant to be objectified. It's also not a problem if you're objectifying a photo or a video recording rather than the person in them, since those are literally objects. It is a problem if you don't separate the person from the moment. Of course, the kind of person who most needs to know this is also the least likely to care about the harm caused by not making the distinction, but that would be a problem even if porn didn't exist.
I admit that I like to watch porn, but it doesn't make me objectify women. The guys who are going to objectify women are likely the ones who are striking out with them and are going to resort to porn more often, like the incel idiots.
But when it comes to porn, I'm actually turned off by the money shot in the woman's mouth, especially when it's apparent she's disgusted by it. I'd much rather watch a couple who care about each other (or at least pretend to) tenderly making love.
Quite a few pornstars are proudly owning their sexuality, thank you very much. And good job erasing gay/lesbian porn actors entirely, while slut-shaming everyone who chooses (or has no other choice) to be in the adult entertainment industry.
Prudish sex-negativity is regressive as hell.
Am I the only one thinking this is not that fundie?
Aren't there entire branches of Feminism that have similar arguments?
I'm not saying I agree, but the sentiment leans more towards mainstream then extremist
(i.e. fundie) in the very least.
“As long as men look at women as a sex object, we won't get the credibility we deserve.”
That’s not the porn workers’ fault, though. Taht’s the men. If i see a woman having sex on screen and use her to judge all women, I’m the pig. If you’re saying NO women should do porn, even willingly, because men are chauvinists, you’re limiting women’s freedom to cater to men’s failings.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
