The news media were blasted today for reporting that hyperrealism sculptures in the Museum of New Zealand were “made.”

The group, who called themselves WARI (“We Are Really Intelligent”), stated that they represented true science and that there was no evidence that any of these sculptures had a sculptor.

For the millionth time, just because we know some things are made by an intelligent creator, does not mean to say everything was made by an intelligent creator.

Lets run with your stupid argument for a sec.

A 747 is a complex construct and we know it was made by a large group of people.

A tree is also a complex construct and therefore must also have been made by a large group of people.

What? you say it wasnt made by a group of people? That it grew from a tiny seed, taking minerals and energy from the sun and enviroment and converting that into a thick trunk, tall branches and thick leaves? Dont be fucking stupid, its obvious it and the 747 are both complex composite structures and the tree must have been built by a group of people and installed there, 100 meters tall, just like the 747.

Thats your argument moron, exactly the same premise and reasoning. In actual fact, it follows that the tree was built by Boeing.

See how perfectly it makes promises that it need never deliver in return for obedience and oodles of hard cash.

I'm not finding the story anywhere, so I'll work off of @Warren McIntosh.

Its like I said before, even things we know were made by intelligent humans i.e. 747's, have a design history that more closely resembles evolution than instant creation.

If your argument from design argues for anything, it argues for theistic evolution. But as we've known for over a century, seemingly complex patterns can result from simple mathematics determined by the laws of chemistry and physics, why should biology be different? Especially considering that microbiology has more in-common with chemistry than zoology, botany, or mycology (macro). Not to dismiss the heavily chemical nature of the studies of zoology, botany, and mycology.

Its entirely within the realm of possibility that WARI (I can't seem to find anything about this group btw), set up the material in such a way that natural processes would do the work for them. As I haven't seen the sculptures or the group I have a hard time commenting on this.

The problem with that argument is that it's by no means exclusive to "the concept of god". Any ideology can be used as justification for atrocities. I'm not going to pretend my faith hasn't-look at the Inquisition, the Crusades, WBC, all that bullshit. But if you want to oppress people, you can take any ideology and twist it to do that. For example:

As an atheist, Joe Whalerson sees multiple problems and inconsistencies with every faith he has come across.

There we go. Atheism as justification for oppression and slavery. All it takes is evil and drive. You don't even have to be very smart-look at WBC.
I, and pretty much everyone, including most (key word *most*) of the people here would call that line of reasoning a crock of shit. If I were an atheist, I'd be ashamed and offended that someone was using principles I agreed with and believed in this way. No group is immune from bigotry, idiocy and extremism.

Also Ray Comfort is a doucheface with the world's most ironic name.

You and Cameron are the ones that think things can be poofed into existence by a God, who poofed into existence from nothing as everything needs a creator EXCEPT skydaddy.

Science and the laws of logic lead to realize buildings, writing and art, (abstract not included, only the canvas and medium) are created by intelligent beings, for that matter, beehives, beaver damns and birds nests and things of that nature.

Now for you and Cameron, (the proud recipient of the worst movie ever awards, shoulda let a beaver make it) when you see a piece of ancient Egyptian/ Greek/ Babylonian or Sumerian art from 1000s of years ago or native American or African art from 200 years ago and don't know the creator,, then we assume there was one,,,but you two knobs,,, because you certainly weren't there. HAVE TO ACCEPT THEY'RE THE CREATION OF GODS.

If you came across a pocket-watch lying in a grassy field, you might be temped to believe it had been dropped or left by some previous rambler, but let us not forget, the grass on which the watch is to be found is immeasurably more complex than the watch itself, yet we would be in no doubt that the grass had grown there of its own accord, most likely from some wind-blown seed, so it is hardly credible to assume some intelligent agency somehow must be responsible for the presence of the trivial device of a watch.

No, clearly one can look at all the mightily complex organisms that grow from seeds in the soil of that field and rightly deduce that the watch too grew there, perhaps from some small wind-blown cog. For if the obviously made can be somehow used to deduce a maker for the obviously unmade, then so can the obviously grown shed light on the origin of the obviously not grown.
