Harry Potter only gets kids reading because of the content of the books. The content of the books is evil and the author herself is a satanist. Satanism is a very dangerous religion. Young people are drawn into it becuase it is so appealing. It appeals to their flesh and their sense of mystery and the music appeals to their flesh too. Harry Potter books are dangerous and leading many down the broad road of destruction.

as opposed to what? The front cover? That's right - well written, interesting, funny, intelligent, not condescending, exciting.... God forbid!
"Harry Potter only gets kids reading because of the content of the books."
Why else would somone read a book?
"The content of the books is evil and the author herself is a satanist."
According to fundies everyone and everything outside their religion is evil and satanic, so no surprise here.
"Young people are drawn into it becuase it is so appealing."
Not because its repulsive? I'll have to remember that.
"It appeals to their flesh and their sense of mystery and the music appeals to their flesh too."
At least it doesn't appeal to their stupidity.
"Harry Potter books are dangerous and leading many down the broad road of destruction."
There are some things more dangerous and destructive than Harry Potter books.
Fundie religions for example.
Yes, the Harry Potter books are truly evil. They promote such satanic values as perseverance in the fight for good over evil, loyalty to friends, and hard work. Shocking, indeed.
If the Harry Potter books contained a tiny fraction of the violence, murder, genocide, hatred, venom or spite that the the Babble does no-one would let their kids anywhere near them.
Well katyanne, of course kids are going to follow something that's appealing, as opposed to a religion that's unappealing. Maybe if you dressed up fundie-religions to be appealing you'd have something.
Harry Potter revolutionized books. By this, I mean that these books actually got kids interested in reading again. It almost seems as if these people are noticing that kids are hooked on reading, and are afraid they'll grow up smarter than them.
Just because the Harry Potter books are more popular, and better written than the Bible, that's no reason to get jealous.
I'm not really a big fan of HP. But I do think it's much better for kids to read those books, than for them to read a book extolling hatred, rape and murder. At least Harry and his friends don't go around arbitrarily slaughtering the people they don't like.
Once again, Harry Potter is about the fight between good and evil. There is nothing evil about the books. In fact, I can point out quite a bit of christian imagery in the series.
If you want some truly 'wicked' (wickedly good too) young adult lit, go read the "Bartimaeus Trilogy" by Jonathan Stroud. I bet you never worry about Harry Potter again.
But wait, I forgot that most people bitching about Harry Potter have never read the books.
Also, music? Are you talking about books or movies? Make up your mind.
The classic "Satanism" that fundies(and, to be honest, most people) think of is that one with all the animal sacrifices and baby killing and such, right? Or is that Christianity? I get them confused SO easily, what with the bible promoting that sorta thing.
"Harry Potter only gets kids reading because of the content of the books."
Duh. That's why people find any book interesting enough to read.
"The content of the books is evil and the author herself is a satanist."
I dare say you've never read a Harry Potter book. They are stories of good overcoming evil. How is that evil?
You have no credible evidence that the author worships Satan. Until you do, you should shut up.
"Satanism is a very dangerous religion."
All religions, including your precious Xian delusion are dangerous. Many more persons have been killed in the name of Xianity than in the name of Satanism.
"Young people are drawn into it becuase it is so appealing."
There are hardly any Satanists in the world.
"It appeals to their flesh and their sense of mystery and the music appeals to their flesh too."
Not everyone who doesn't worship you imaginary friend is worshipping Satan, sweety.
"Harry Potter books are dangerous and leading many down the broad road of destruction."
Let's see, they teach good triumphing over evil and they encourage kids (and adults) to read. That doesn't sound like the road to destruction. Are you sure you're no against it because it's the road to enlightenment?
What is this official music of Satanism?
...please, please don't answer "rock music".
We used to have a JW family in my village, and the son believed just that. The poor kid never was the sharpest crayon in the box...
Harry Potter: Clearly defined charectors who are usually of the good or evil variety.
Bible: Ambiguous charectors who are sometimes good, sometimes bad, and most of the evil is carried out by god, who is supposed to be the big good guy.
Wait, which one is bad again?
Oh please. If witches and wizards existed, I am more than sure that this would be the Church's reaction.
Church Bishop: Amen! We were right in the Salem Witch Burnings! They all must burn! Make sure that J.K Rowling is on the list!
Church Bishop: Wait a second...Since in the book of Genesis that the women at the source of evil ( Read here for details ), if they have breasts, they must die for the sake of the Lord!
Young Priest: Yes we shall! Since we have no desire, let alone a penis and a set of balls, Adam shall now rule as moral beings, we can achieve this for our God!
Bishop: Oh yes, this day shall come!
(After the witch burnings...)
Bishop: Thank you Lord! We burnt all the children, women in your name! Like centuries ago when we invaded and killed countless Muslims and guilty-as-charged scientists! Praise the Lord!
Young Priest: Not that hole, Bishop! The one below!
Bishop: Oh...sorry, my child.
AMEN! (End)
Really makes you afraid of religion.
Ummm...There's no flesh or music in the HP books, unless I've got broken copies.
Okay, there's music in the movies, but it's only John Williams and he's everywhere.
As for flesh in the movies ... where is the titillation factor in the movies?
"If you don't find it there, make it up!" Is that it? Sheesh!
"Harry Potter only gets kids reading because of the content of the books."
Correct! But then again, that one really wasn't that hard, was it? You only read the Bible for the exact same reason.
"The content of the books is evil and the author herself is a satanist."
Well, there is just as much depiction of evil in the Bible, too, you know. Possibly more. There's more death described in the Bible (a lot more, actually, a conservative body count tops out at over 2 million corpses, even without counting everyone who died in the flood) Come to think of it, the Bible talks a lot about Satan, and Rowling never does.... Maybe the Bible is satanic...?
"Satanism is a very dangerous religion."
Yes it is. Just like fundamentalist uber-Baptists. Actually, I think the Uber-Baptists are more dangerous because they are culturally and socially acceptable in the United States, whereas Satanism is a sure ticket to "weirdo" status.
"Young people are drawn into it becuase it is so appealing."
You think Satanism is appealing? You're not a very good uber-Baptist, are you?
"It appeals to their flesh and their sense of mystery and the music appeals to their flesh too."
Oh come on, say it. Sex. I'll say it with you if it will help, on the count of three...1...2...3 Seeeeeeeeeexxxxx. "Appeals to their flesh!" That's friggin' hilarious.
"Harry Potter books are dangerous and leading many down the broad road of destruction."
Okay, I don't know anyone who has been led down the "road of destruction" by Harry Potter books. But I do know about 2 or 3 dozen kids who have become better, more engaged readers because of them. And that skill will help them to become much better students, more intelligent thinkers, and less likely to be duped by a dogma-spewing, authoritarian, anti-intellectual, backwards, superstitious, fascist-leaning, robot factory organization.
Like yours.
I find it interesting to note that people wet themselves over Harry Potter without realizing that it's *weak* compared to a lot of the other fantasy books that are out there.
Heck, the novelization of the Slayers franchise has Lina admitting to herself that if she was a guy she'd bang one of the other girls in the party.
Uhh...Satanism, on the whole, is a pretty decent religion. Except for the parts about magic (bullshit) and LaVey's restrictions on taking animal life. The Nine Cardinal Sins of Satanism are an especially nice point.
Harry Potter only gets kids reading because of the content of the books.
Yes, most people read books because of their content. I mean, why would you enjoy reading a book if you didn't enjoy reading what it's about? And who doesn't like great characters, adventure, mystery, and all the other things that make Harry Potter so much fun.
The content of the books is evil and the author herself is a satanist.
Research. You fail it forever.
JK Rowling is very clearly a Christian. I'll give you a pass on not noticing the Bible quotes in book 7 because this was posted before that book came out, but come on. I was picking up on Christian themes by book five. (Really, I should have been picking them up way earlier. Looking back anyone Christian imagery throughout the novels.)But a quick google search will tell you that JK Rowling is a Christian. She's a member of the Church of Scotland. You can find that out with just a quick google search.
Satanism is a very dangerous religion. Young people are drawn into it becuase it is so appealing. It appeals to their flesh and their sense of mystery and the music appeals to their flesh too. Harry Potter books are dangerous and leading many down the broad road of destruction.
But, Harry Potter is a series of books. So music come in how?
Reading books appeals to the flesh? Yeah, well, I guess some do, but Hary Potter isn't exactly pornography. As in it's nothing like pornography in any way at all whatsoever.
So, Harry Potter is evil and Satanic how?
I find no logic here. Just a bunch of non-sequiters that make me want to bang my head against the wall.
The day that people are killed, tortured or persecuted in some other manner for not believing in Harry Potter, that's the day you can open your fat mouth.
And get a fucking life. Harry is just a fictional character (a bit like your buddy in the sky).
Confused?
