Exactly what kind of problem do you have with the Native Americans, Bill? What did they ever do to you? No, it's not cool that the white man wrote history books, adding in his own prejudices, slants, and outright lies. I doubt you would think it to be as cool if the Native Americans won and preserved for posterity that notion that we were all barbaric, lying, two-faced savages.
Didn't do much with it? The Native Americans sure used this land much more efficiently than we ever did. Don't tell me you never learned about how the Plains Indians used the entire carcass of the buffalo, rather than just taking some parts and leaving it to rot like white hunters did. Or how whites basically stripped the land dry (there was one case where they even created an inflammable river. Great accomplishment, that).
The reason that Native Americans couldn't stop the white man from coming was that the white man had superior weapons and brought deadly diseases along with them. Biological warfare was the main cause of the Native Americans' demise. Of course, at the beginning, the white explorers had no idea about germs or infections, so could hardly be held liable for that. However, somewhere along the line, the whites wised up and intentionally gave Native Americans smallpox-infested blankets as gifts.
The Native Americans have it so much better today? They're a minority in their own land. Most of them live on reservations, which aren't always in the best shape, and have high rates of suicide and alcoholism. It's so easy for you to sit back and say that it's cool, because you're the descendant of the winners. You probably have no idea what it's like to be an outcast in your own land, hated and despised, shuttled back and forth like a mule, derided and dehumanized. Your utter lack of empathy and compassion is repulsive and despicable.
