When the earth was created and sin entered in(satan being thrust down) it knock the earth off it's axis, that is why there is 365 days in a year and not 360 as you would think (the earth being round) and also why the sun (light) does not shine on the earth as a whole, leaving some parts in darkness at certain times.

Well, at least we have an original theory here... too bad it's complete BS.
The length of the year has nothing to do with the axis of the Earth...and even if it did...how is 360 days all that special? If you think because of '360 degrees,' well, here's a surprise for you -- the reason we have 360 degrees is because of a Babylonian base-60 system.
And if the Earth had a 0-degree axis, that wouldn't give us an eternal day...only if the sun surrounded us would that happen. Or was the moon supposed to be that perfect godly mirror, and sin cracked it?
Gadren addressed this piece of mental feces pretty well, so I'm just going to add that the length of the year only has to do with the shape of the Earth's orbit around the sun, not the shape of the Earth itself.
If the axis wasn't tilted, all that would do is get rid of seasons. It'd be 12 hours day, 12 hours night EVERYWHERE.
Gadren: Because the moon orbits the earth, even if it were a perfect mirror, it'd be on the same side as the sun half the time, doing absolutely no good as a mirror. And convex spherical mirrors don't focus light well anyway, so you'd get very little illumination except in a very small area.
You must be talking about the jewish calendar 360 days in a year, but the jewish holidays are seasonal and tied to the solar calendar o solstices and equinoxes. The jewish calendar had a rather complicated system of leap years to compensate for the differece, In a cycle of 19 years, the third, sixth, eighth, 11th, 14th, 17th and 19th years had an extra month added. I could keep going on but im not going to.....!!!!
@always
and also why the sun (light) does not shine on the earth as a whole, leaving some parts in darkness at certain times.
No, I think thats due to the earth being a globe and rotating.
"why the sun (light) does not shine on the earth as a whole, leaving some parts in darkness at certain times."
Wait, if I understand this chap correcting, he's saying that his messed up idea is why the sun doesn't shine on ALL of the Earth all of the time.
Could it be that it's because, as he says himself, that the earth is round? So it's impossible for the sun to shine on all of the earth, all of the time.
I particularly like his "one degree shift in position of the earth equals one day" theory.
I think the "some parts in darkness" is particularly referring to the months-long nights that occur in wintertime near the poles.
I hope.
But still, "The Earth's axis is tilted because God cast Satan down SOOOOOOO hard it knocked Earth all crooked!" How do you explain Uranus?
When he said "leaving some parts in darkness at certain times", I don't think he was referring to day and night. I believe he was referring to how when you get really close to the poles in certain areas, you'll get like 6-months of night time, and 6 months of daytime.
Still, he's a bloody idiot.
round = 360
???
Die in a fire.
Soon.
What... can't refute... no leg to stand on... where does such stupid begin?
- The earth's tilt creates seasons, it has nothing to do with the number of days.
- The earth being round does not have anything to do with the number of days either, since a cube (for example) rotating at the same speed in the same orbit would also have 365.25 days per year.
- The sun can only light 1/2 the planet due to the round shape, not any such tilt.
This article is complete, irredeemable potato. The submitter is Bat Fuck Insane, and programs at the vein.
If you attempt to liberate this, you will most stupidly become Bat Fuck Insane yourself.
Or the submitter will steal your beach ball.
I think I just vomited a little in my mouth. Then again from the cliche use.
How does someone manage to be so clueless about basic geometry? I mean, spheres? This is like preschool stuff here.
The Earth has 365.25 days a year and we know about day and night. We also know about seasons, and that there's more daylight in the summer, less in the winter, and more or less an equal amount in spring and fall. Does God just like us more in summer or something? The moon has it too; ever wonder what causes moon phases? A new moon leaves the hemisphere that faces Earth in darkness. As for that extra quarter of a year, we lump them together every four years in the form of February 29, AKA Leap Day.
"why the sun (light) does not shine on the earth as a whole, leaving some parts in darkness at certain times"
Here's your task: Using ONE flashlight and one soccer ball, enter a completely dark large room, such that no light can be reflected from its walls.
Using the ONE flashlight try to shine the flashlight in such a way that the light is shining on the ball as a whole, equally illuminating the entire surface of the ball.
Get back to us when you have accomplished that.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all the planets more or less round? Mercury has only 88 days in a year, and Neptune has 164,8 Earth years in its year.
"that is why there is 365 days in a year and not 360 as you would think"
...why would you think that? Because there is 360 degrees in a circle? Earth is a sphere you know? I, I don't even, I'll just give up.
Please explain exactly how, with only one light source (our sun), a spherical planet can be lit "as a whole" rather than with "some parts in darkness".
Take this flashlight and this tennis ball and we'll lock you in that dark room until such time as you figure out the answer, or the batteries go dead.

Make the Sun rotate at an angular velocity w1 around the Earth and also vary it's inclination on chosen reference plane at a rate of w2. If we assume w2 equal to 24 rotations per second and w1 equal to 8620 rotations per second the illumination won't be analytically stationary and uniform but it'll suit Fundies' demands for sure :D
(An omnipotent deity surely would have been able to arrange such conditions :D)
“When the earth was created and sin entered in(satan being thrust down) it knock the earth off it's axis,”
How does sin knock Earth off its axis?
Especially since the Bible Earth is stationary, not spinning.
"that is why there is 365 days in a year and not 360 as you would think (the earth being round)”
First, everyone knows it’s 365.25 days.
Second, why would you think Earth’s shape was significant? The 360 degrees in a circle is an arbitrary human devising, not a physical trait of the universe.
Thirdly, wouldn’t you expect the year to be a multiple of 7 days? So that the Sabbath is always on the same day?
"and also why the sun (light) does not shine on the earth as a whole, leaving some parts in darkness at certain times.”
Earth’s tilt is why the sun can’t shine on both sides of a sphere at the same time?
Man, i thought Kevin Sorbo was stupid.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
